Every Student Counts, Every Moment Matters!
Message From Principal Webb
Hello families!
International Night is on Monday, April 22nd at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This is an open house format where families will pick up their Longfellow passport and travel around the world by visiting and learning about different countries...sample some food, or listen to a performance. Thank you to the families and staff for making this night possible!
We will also be celebrating Earth Week next week. Below is our list of celebrations days.
We acknowledged our PBIS winners at our monthly assembly on Friday. We also tried our first "Cookie Jar" game challenge with Ms. Brown and Ms.Ash our Music teachers. This was a fun way to end the week!
As always, thank you for your support and partnership!
Sincerely,
Kelli Webb

STUDENT SAFETY PATROL
Student Safety Patrol is up and going for the spring. You will find students on safety patrol wearing neon safety sashes and located at these locations:
- safety patrol by the southside
- safety patrol by the north side loop
- safety patrol by the east side(kindergarten)
- flag
In the morning, at each location, their purpose will be to help kids get to their lines, walking their bikes, etc. In the afternoon, their task will be to make sure that the kids are moving away from the building, to get to their after school locations.
Book Fair Information!
The upcoming Scholastic Book Fair on May 2nd and 3rd will be a Buy One Get One Free fair. That's right: for every book you buy you can get one of equal or lesser value for FREE! this is our first time doing this type of fair and there are a few differences from what we are used to:
- We do not know exactly which books will be featured, so the kids will have to walk through and preview the fair when it is set up instead of watching a video or choosing from a flyer. We will set up early for this purpose so the kids can walk through before the fair.
- There is NO ONLINE BOOK FAIR. Instead, we encourage parents to sign up for Scholastic's neweWallet feature if you cannot attend the fair in person. With eWallet you can preload funds for your child to shop during the school day without sending a check or cash. Sign up by going to scholastic.com/fair anytime after April 16th. Find our fair and follow the directions.

Attendance Zones
- Attendance Zones
The Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors approved new elementary attendance areas for the 2019-20 school year. The new boundaries were approved during their November 27 board meeting. The updated maps can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/DistrictMaps. In addition, the District’s Attendance Area Look-Up links have been updated to reflect the approved boundary changes. The Attendance Area Look-Up links provide school information specific for your home address. The links can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/AttendanceAreaLookUp. Junior high and high school students may also be impacted by these changes. Please be sure to check the Attendance Area Look-Up link above to determine if changes to the elementary boundaries have affected your student.
