Lincoln Middle School
November 11, 2022
Lincoln was pleased to host a Veterans Day Assembly today. Sergeant Scott Filipek of the Mount Prospect Police Department was our guest speaker who shared his story in the military; why Veterans Day is important to him; and, why it is important to all of us. The Arlingtones, a men's acapella group also sang at the assembly, singing the National Anthem, God Bless America, and the Armed Forces Medley. This was a great opportunity for our students and staff to reflect on the sacrifice that comes with living in our country. Students were asked to reflect on how they can "be the good" within the community and our school in response not only to our appreciation for our Veterans but also to take care of those around us. Please enjoy the clip below of The Arlingtones singing God Bless America at the assembly.
The Lincoln Student Council Annual Food Drive is here! The Food Drive will begin on Monday, November 14, and continues until Friday, November 18. All collected items will be donated to the Mount Prospect Food Pantry. Donations will be collected in students' first period classes and the winning class will earn a pizza party at lunch! We are hoping to beat the item count from last year which was about 700 items. In previous years, we had around 1,200 items . . . thank you for considering a donation to this Student Council community effort!
I ask that families take note that on Monday, November 14, advisory teachers will distribute student MAP scores, IAR (Math and ELA) scores, and ISA scores (6th grade only) directly to students. Students will be instructed to bring these documents home the same day and give the scores to their families. Please ask your child for their test scores.
Finally, I hope that you will join me in recognizing the hard work and commitment of the District 57 School Board. Tuesday, November 15, is School Board Members Day, and I am fortunate to have this venue to publicly thank our Board members for their service to the District 57 community.
Sincerely,
Eric Larson, Principal
PS - Please check your student's backpack. The proof sheets from retake day were distributed this week. You can return the proof sheet to the front office with payment or order online.

Office FAQ's
Question: Can my child “hang out” after school?
Answer: Not really. Students may only stay after school, on school property, to participate in clubs, athletics, extra-curricular activities, or as assigned by a staff member. No student may remain after school unless he or she is supervised by a staff member. After-school help sessions must be arranged in advance with teachers.
Question: What if my child wants to attend sporting events after school as a spectator?
Answer: Students are welcome to attend Lincoln home athletic events. However, we can not provide supervision for students waiting to attend an athletic event, and students must leave school property after school and return later to attend a sporting event as a spectator. Generally, athletic competitions (i.e., basketball games) are scheduled to start at about 4 p.m. Students attending sporting events must remain in the gymnasium during the event.
