Occurrences On The Sun
Rakelle S.
The Sun is the only star in our solar system, and there are many interesting occurrences that happen there. Sunspots, Solar Flares, and Coronal Mass Ejections are a few of these.
Sunspots
Sunspots are dark, circular features on the surface of the Sun. The number and area of which they are located varies every 11 years. This is known as a sunspot cycle.
Solar Flares
Solar Flares are a sudden brightening of a part of the solar atmosphere. They cause a huge increase in the temperature of the corona(the outermost layer of the sun), to about 17999540.33 degrees fahrenheit.
Coronal Mass Ejections
Coronal Mass Ejections are giant clouds of solar material that take one to three days to reach Earth. Once at Earth, they can impact satellites in space or interfere with radio communications.
