Ellen Ochoa Elementary
Learn, Lead and Light the Way--A Leader in Me School
August 22nd-26th, 2022
Welcome Back!
What an incredible first three days of the 22-23 school year!
What a gift to hear the footsteps and excitement of our leaders being back at Ellen Ochoa!
We are recharged and focused on providing an engaging and enriching learning experience that leads to every student's academic, social, and emotional growth.
Thank you to every Ochoa family for your kindness and patience as we navigated drop-off and pick-up. The first day was quite long, but we shaved off over 30 minutes by Friday. Our goal is to finish dismissal by 3:15 pm in all three loops. The expectation is that every family is in line by 3:15 pm.
For student and staff safety, we request that families do not use their cell phones to text or call once they enter the parking lot of all three loops. Signs will be posted in the next month as a friendly reminder.
Please don't hesitate to call with any concerns or questions regarding the procedures for pick-up and drop-off.
Leader in Me Family Focus
The 7 Habits Overview
Habit 1-Be Proactive
To be proactive means to take responsibility for your life. Instead of being reactive and merely taking life as it comes, proactive people take initiative to make life happen the way they want it to happen.
Habit 2-Begin with the End in Mind
People who begin with the end in mind: • Plan ahead and set goals. • Are clear about what matters most to them. • Have purpose and meaning in their life. • Live by a personal mission statement. • Begin projects with clear objectives
Habit 3-Put First Things First
“I have the discipline to carry out my priorities, purposes, and plans.”
Habit 4-Think Win-Win
This is not the habit where I win and you lose, or where you win and I lose, or the habit where we both lose, it is the habit where everyone can win.
Habit 5-Seek First to Understand and then be Understood
We listen not only with our ears, but also with our eyes (looking for body language) and our heart (listening for feelings)
Habit 6-Synergize
Synergizing leads to synergy, where two or more people work together to get results better than either one of them could have come up with working alone.
Habit 7-Sharpen the Saw
It is to renew yourself in four different areas: body, mind, heart, and spirit.
