Mathematics and Science Academic Coach-Charles Drew HS
Welcome to 2019-2020!
I am SO EXCITED to welcome each of you to Charles R. Drew Medical Magnet High School for the 2019-2020 school year. We have SO MANY great things happening at CDHS this school year and of the greatest things we can boast about is our new team of educators. We have staffed 27 new team members and each one of them brings a wealth of knowledge and professional training to our Titan family. These skills, coupled with the veteran CDHS educators returning to our hallways, makes for one DYNAMIC year for our students.
As the Academic Coach charged with the support of both Mathematics and Science, I am excited to continue the great work we started last school year. We have many practices in place which have proven to be effective for our student demographic and we have some areas where we still have to establish some successful norms. We have seen gains in critical areas, however, we have work to do across the board to show growth. Together, we will continue to provide our students with unforgettable educational experiences. I look forward to working with each of you.

CONGRATULATIONS MR. CHONG!
This year, the Mathematics and Science teams were WELL represented in the race for TOTY. The race reached its dramatic showdown between three of the TOP educators in the building all from the Mathematics and Science family! They are our leaders, our tireless servants and our model educators, Mr. Chong (Science Department Chair), Mrs. Burnley (Mathematics Department Chair) and Mr. Thompson (Medical Magnet Coordinator). What a tremendous statement that makes about the impact our respective contents have on the CDHS climate and culture! For that alone, we are WINNERS!
We are SO PROUD to be represented by Mr. Chong who will serve as our school and District representative of excellence in and out of the classroom. There are many things we can say about Mr. Chong, but perhaps the best thing we can say to him is THANK YOU. Thank you, Mr. Chong, for your support, guidance, leadership and passion. We are honored to be a part of your team and to have you as a part of ours! Again, CONGRATULATIONS!

WEEK TWO WALK THROUGHS
1. 7-Step Agenda: Must be on the instructional board and must be accurate.
2. Time Management: All instructional and student learning must fill the ENTIRE class period. Please keep in mind, students should not be given "free" time at the end of the period. Every moment counts when implementing a block schedule.
I will be following the lesson plan as submitted so please make corrections as necessary to the live document in Google.
