Turkey Bingo

Thank you to everyone who came out to play Turkey Bingo and make our 8th grade fundraiser a huge success! It was a fun evening! View photos here.

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving Break is coming up. Mark your calendars for no school Nov. 22-26th.

Carpool Safety

  • If your child forgot something, for their safety, they should not return to the car once they have started walking toward the sidewalk. Please hand the item to the person on duty if you have not already driven away. Otherwise, drive back around, park in the cove, and bring the item in if it is important. Tragedies have occurred when students returned to the carpool line unexpectedly.

  • Phones should not be in your hands or taking up your attention when driving on school grounds. This is for the safety of everyone on the property, including yourself, other drivers, those on duty, and children walking to the school. It can wait.

  • Do not allow your young child to open the car door without someone on duty right there to make sure they take the correct path to the building, even if you are next in line at the flagpole. Again, this is for their safety.

Extended Care Door

Due to the parking lot construction, the aftercare pickup parking lot and door was changed to the west side of the building. Moving the cars away from the south cover parking lot and away from the playground is much safer for the kids. Therefore, the new west side aftercare doors will become the permanent aftercare doors.

Christmas Toy Drive

This Advent season, our school will be sponsoring the Christmas Connection, a Sharing Tree Program. This is an opportunity for the students to get involved in the act of giving. Our generosity will help ensure more than 770 families will be able to place gifts under their Christmas trees.

The Third Grade SALT program will be organizing the collection of gifts CSSE donates. While you are doing your own Christmas shopping, please consider getting extra gifts to help those who are less fortunate. Bring new, unwrapped toys to the school library Monday, Nov. 29th through Friday, December 3rd.

Check out these wish lists on Amazon, Walmart, and Target, but feel free to bring whatever you like from anywhere you choose to purchase it. Most needed items include Children's Clothes (ages 3 and up) and Girl's Toys (ages 9 and up).

Please help us bring Christmas to the families who need us!

Uniform Compliance

We are seeing uniform infractions right and left. Remind your child that if they are breaking dress code, Mrs. Goldsworthy and their teachers will be giving infractions that could result in the loss of free dress day or class shirt day for 8th grade. Infraction forms will be sent home. Please check guidelines in the Family Handbook.

News on Repeat

Book Fair Continues Through Thursday! Limited slots are available for family shopping Tuesday, Nov. 16th. Please RSVP through the link. Read the instructions and make sure you follow them so we all have a safe and enjoyable book fair experience.

Online shopping is available November 12-25th. All orders ship to home and book-only orders over $25 ship free. Every purchase benefits our school and helps develop a love of reading. Use this link so the school library receives credit for your purchases!

Don’t forget to set up an ewallet for your students (or contribute to a teacher or the library)! It’s incredibly easy, limits the cash sent to school, and Mrs. Hattaway loves it so much more than counting change. If your student brings cash or checks to school, make sure it’s in an envelope marked with their name. Please let teachers know if you are sending money with younger students. Looking forward to growing our students’ love of reading! Questions to Mrs. Hattaway - media@steugeneschool.org

SALT Volunteer Request! Poinsettias and wreaths will be delivered sometime between Nov 29 and Dec 4. If you could be available to help unload the delivery and/or assist with distribution one or more days that week, please contact Brigitte Silvernail at bsilvernail@hotmail.com and we’ll put you on the standby list. Once we have a specific delivery date, we’ll reach out to confirm your availability. Service hours available. Thank you!

Help support our St. Eugene 8th Grade Class by purchasing CSSE spiritwear eagle hats and the ever-popular, super durable trash bags! Proceeds from this hat and trash bag sale will help the CSSE 8th Grade Class pay for their year-end trip to Camp Classen as well as the traditional class gift to the school and/or parish. Orders and payments are due by Friday, November 19th. If you have any questions, email Jen Taylor at jmjtaylor79@gmail.com - https://bit.ly/8thFundraiserCSSE

Counseling Services Available through Calm Waters. If your student is going through any of the following losses: Death, Divorce, Foster Care & Adoption, Military, Deployment, Incarceration, and Deportation, they are eligible to receive counseling services through Calm Waters Counseling. Families must sign-up on their own using the school address, and we must reach a certain number of student service requests for Calm Waters to contact us to set up a school group at our location. The continued goal of all student support groups is to teach children coping skills that they will utilize for the rest of their lives. Register here (or Spanish version).
