January
Welcome to Faith Facts!
Welcome to January’s edition of Faith Facts with Mrs. Kerwin! This month we will look at some ways to bring scripture and prayer into our daily practice, and few key heavenly friends to bring to our prayer practice as well!
I will be communicating with you monthly to share a few ways that can help you deepen your faith and encounter Christ individually and as a family.
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate reaching out!
Praying for you always,

It's the year of St. Joseph!
Why St. Joseph? The Holy Family is a beautiful devotion for our families. St. Joseph, as proclaimed in the gospel, was a righteous man. He was a man of deep faith and trust in God, and was trusting and obedient to God's will and plan for his life as the Earthly father of Christ. St. Joseph is a heavenly father for all of us to turn to and ask for intercession in our lives as we work toward living a life of humility and obedience to God's plan for all of us.
How to deepen your life with scripture
Scripture "challenges" and why they are a good thing!
As we approach a new year, there are many opportunities out there available to deepen our lives with scriptures. Below are a few links where Father Mike Schmitz delivers some beautiful insights on how and why reading the bible is so important.
scripture challenge the Unleash the Gospel office in the Archdiocese of Detroit has created some really awesome daily challenges for the year. Check out the link and sign up for one! Day 1 always starts the day you decide to start! I've signed up for the Guadalupe Challenge, and I'm really enjoying it so far!
The batman question Did I get your attention? I love superheroes, and I really love a good hero allegory that allows us to see the power of love and goodness over evil. I I always find myself impacted by the question posed by Mr. Wayne in the Batman series "Why do we fall down? So that we can get back up" This earthly life is not always easy, as we have all experienced in one way or another in the past year. God did not promise us that we would have it easy in this life, but he is extremely clear that if we live a life with Him and with trust in Him, we would have eternal joy in his salvation in heaven one day. Scripture is eternal, it is written by God and a clear message for us as we live our lives in preparation for a life with Him. Struggle is hard, but it prepares us for so much. Father Mike explains in a link below.
Detroit's own future saints
Father Gabriel Richard In the fall of 2020, Pope Francis declared that Ste. Anne in Detroit's own former pastor, Father Gabriel Richard would have his cause for sainthood opened up. Maybe the only thing that you know about him is that we have named some high school's after him...but he is actually known as the 2nd founder of Detroit. His crypt is at Ste. Anne's and they are more than happy to share a pilgrimage with you to their basilica and to help you know more about this awesome man! I have attached some links below to learn more about this statesman, founder of the University of Michigan, Priest, and advocate for social justice.
Blessed Solanus Casey If you have never made a pilgrimage to the Father Solanus center...now is the time! In fact, invite me along, it's one of my favorite places to pray, confess, and visit! Father Solanus is such an incredible witness of God's love. Get to know him a little bit better if you haven't already started a relationship with him.
