A Message From Principal Choquette 6/1/18
Good afternoon. I hope you all had a nice week. We are in the final weeks of school with a lot going on. It's exciting and busy both at the same time.
The Benchmark Assessments began this week and will continue through June 8th. These assessments help us to see the kind of growth students have made in reading, math, and in their behavior.
All fifth grade families should have received an email letting folks know that because of the cost of Nature's Classroom this year, their will not be a trip to Sturbridge Village. There are events throughout the year that help to raise money for the fifth grade. It is really important to get as many people involved with the fundraising during the year so we can provide these fun events/activities/trips for our fifth graders. I know it's hard to attend meetings, but every little bit of help people can give only benefits the kids.
The fifth graders will be visiting JFK at 9:15 a.m. on June 7th. Permission slips went home yesterday.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help out at next week's field day. There is always room for more volunteers! Please let us know if you are interested. All volunteers must have CORI's done. This year, lunches will cost $4 on field day for students and adults. Students will be able to use their cards, adults will need to pay cash.
Finally, we will be discussing the Success Committee and School Improvement Plan at the next school council meeting and would love to have people attend if possible. I know the time of the meeting is difficult to get to, so the school council will be exploring different times to hold their meetings next year. This is the last school council meeting of the year and it is on Wednesday, June 13 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. School Council is a great way to get involved, people can nominate themselves or someone else to serve on the council. Look for nomination papers in September!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Celebration 6/7/18
Mr. Darling's 4th grade will be presenting.
Inclusion Update
As stated last week, I will be combining the hiring committees for the classroom teaching positions due to the amount of candidates. Teachers are reviewing the applications and we will be setting up interviews soon. Next week we are interviewing for a long-term teacher sub for the first part of the year for Mrs. Nagle's maternity leave. If there is anyone interested in being on that committee, we are interviewing on June 6th from 3:15-5:15. Please drop me an email if you are interested in that committee.
