Principal's Message....
Dear Hollow Hills Families:
Happy October! It is Family Fun Fair month and I am truly looking forward to this event. It takes a village to pull off an event like this and there are contributions of all sizes that are needed. Please visit the Family Fun Fair website to get more information about the event and how you can help. Many hands make light work and create a memorable, community event for all of our Golden Bears.
Family Fun Fair Needs: From donating time to donating items, there is a way for everyone to contribute. A simple way for immediate and/or extended family to help donate to this event is through the Family Fun Fair Amazon Wish List. A variety of items are needed at a variety of cost levels. Please take a look at the Amazon Wish List and share it with family who might be willing and able to contribute.
Family Fun Fair Tickets: Friendly reminder to buy your tickets this week to take advantage of discounted pricing. Tickets are used for everything except dinner items and the silent auction. Games range from one to ten tickets. Pre Order Tickets by Sunday, October 9th for discounted pricing.
A new month means new events and new calendars for school meals and community resources. Please take a minute to scroll through this newsletter to ensure you have all the new information for the month of October.
It is the people who make this place so special. Thank you to our families for choosing Hollow Hills and being part of this incredible Golden Bear Community.
Thank you,
Heather

School Site Council - Member Nominations
Dear Hollow Hills Families,
The Site Council of Hollow Hills Fundamental School is seeking nominations for parent representatives to serve on the School Site Council for the 2022-2023 school year. The objectives of the School Site Council are to carry out the following responsibilities:
● Obtain input, analyze student performance, set goals, review resources, monitor progress, and evaluation effectiveness of the school program
● Review and support the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) program and the Comprehensive Safety Plan. These plans are evaluated annually and revised as necessary.
● Disseminate information as needed and be a conduit for communication between parents and school personnel.
● Review and update Hollow Hill’s School Site Council By-laws.
The meetings will be held 4 times per year. Training for our new school site council members will be provided at the first meeting on October 25, 2022 at 2:30pm in the Hollow Hills Staff Lounge. At this first meeting the School Site Council will elect a chairperson. The public is invited to the meetings and an agenda for the meetings is available in the office prior to the scheduled meetings. Hollow Hills School Site Council By-laws are also available in the office if you would like to better understand the function of the School Site Council.
Those who are interested in this elected position (if necessary), please complete the Google Form below no later than Friday, October 7, 2022. An email expressing your interest can also be emailed to Heather.Godfrey@simivalleyusd.org. If more than the required number of parents wish to participate, ballots to select the new members will be emailed on October 14, 2022, and all votes must be returned by October 17, 2022. The new members will be notified by phone on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 with a reminder of training and our first School Site Council meeting on October 25, 2022. If you would like any more information, please feel free to call the school office at (805) 520-6720.
Sincerely,
Heather Godfrey

Coming Up This Week
Reflections - "Show Your Voice....."
DEADLINE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 3RD.
The National PTA Reflections art contest theme for this 2022–2023 school year is “Show your voice....” Ask your student what they think of the theme and how they can express it through art. There are six categories to choose from: film production, photography, dance choreography, music composition, literature, and visual arts. Students may submit 1 entry per category.
All entries must be turned in no later than October 3rd, 2022. Entries may be turned in anytime before October 3rd. Email your submission as an attachment or photograph(s) along with a completed entry form, which is included at the end of this post, to hollowhills.reflections@gmail.com. Please DO NOT forget to have your student write an artist statement explaining their work. This holds the utmost importance of the entry. There will be prizes for winning entries at each level of competition (school, school district, California region, California state, and national).
Because the program is designed to encourage and recognize each student’s individual creativity, help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed except in the Special Artist Division.
If you have any questions or if you would like to be a Reflections judge for our school, please feel free to contact Reflections Chairperson Paola Dela Cruz-Galvez at hollowhills.reflections@gmail.com or call/text at 805-428-6782.
The PTA can’t wait to see everyone's masterpiece!

Parent Education
Internet Safety - Help for Parents
I must emphasize how important it is for parents to take the time to learn and access these resources before they are needed. Often, parents are seeking resources after their children have accessed something concerning. Please, be proactive and start learning now.
