State-Wide Assessments
As spring approaches, so does our commitment to the state's MCAS testing. This year, for grades 3-5, students will have a single-day assessment in Math and ELA (5th-Grade also has Science and Technology). These shortened tests will allow us to continue to emphasize our in-person teaching time, which is a priority of the district.
We have a basic outline for the MCAS days, so here is our preliminary schedule:
ELA- Cohort A, 4/12; Cohort B, 4/15; Cohort C, 4/14
Math- Cohort A, 5/3; Cohort B, 5/6; Cohort C, 5/5
Science and Technology (5 only)- Cohort A, 5/10; Cohort B, 5/13; Cohort C, 5/12
More information will be sent directly to parents as we get closer to the testing window.
Thank You District Readers!
In this very unique year, we were not able to welcome parents into the classroom for Read Across America Week as we have in the past. However, we were able to find district personnel to read in person (or virtually).
Chromebook Paperwork 3-5
Thank you to all of the parents/guardians that have returned the Chromebook agreements. These Chromebooks are not only a vital part of our ability to continue the Hybrid Model that we are currently using, but they will be an asset to our students for many years to come in any school setting. The key part to returning the paperwork now is that we will be using these individual Chromebooks during our state testing. We certainly want students to be comfortable with their devices by testing time, thus allowing them to show us their best work.
If you need a new copy of the paperwork, you can find it here.
Drop-Off Reminder
We can't thank everyone enough this year for making parent drop-off and pick-up a success. There is just one thing we want to make sure we remind folks about. If you pull up to the back circle and do not see any adults there to help, please drive around to the front of the building and have your students enter using the main entrance. Our usual drop-off times are from 8:20-8:30, but the staff is often outside until 8:35 this year due to the high volume of cars.
Nurse Notes
Reminder to all parents of 3rd Graders: Your child’s physical is due. If your child has had a physical in 2020 please have a copy forwarded to the health office if you have not already done so. If your child is in need of a physical, please make an appointment with their Primary Care Provider soon. If you need a form, please call the school nurse and one will be sent home. Physicals can always be faxed to the health office at 978-827-5699. Thanks for your prompt attention!
Thanks,
Mrs. Flis, RN
