A message from Mr. Miller

June, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Well another year has come and almost gone. We have had a very successful year with many accomplishments by both students and staff. Our year was filled with exciting lessons and activities. I am sure the students are glad that the school year is coming to an end but we need to remind them to stay focused right up until the final day. Dismissal on the final day, Tuesday, June 11, 2019 is at 11:30 am.

Our SOL testing continues until June 4, 2019. Our students did a great job during the SOL testing by giving a great effort. I am extremely proud of them and their effort. We will be having many culminating activities for the students. Our main activity is our Awards Night which will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 7:00pm. The grade levels will also be having Awards Assemblies to honor those students who have done well in individual classes.

It is truly a very exciting time of year with much happening. I want to thank each and every one of our parents for the outstanding support you give to your child, our teachers and the administration in making Stonewall Middle such an outstanding place to learn. Thank you for everything you do!

Sincerely Yours,

John G. Miller

Principal

Learner Profile Trait of the Month

The learner profile trait for the month of June is reflective. Being reflective means students give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experiences. They can assess and understand their strengths and limitations in order to support their own learning and personal development.

Activities for home and with parents

· Spend some time reviewing your child’s final report card for the year with them. They should look at the report card with you. Discuss their strengths and why they were successful. Also look at some areas of improvement for next year. Consider what they can do over the summer to help prepare them for the next school year.

IB Summer Camp

We are planning an IB Summer Camp and Orientation to SMS on Tuesday August 13th, 2019. This event is for the incoming 6th grade class and will be run by our 2019-20 NJHS students. We are excited for this opportunity.
