Safety Drill Update
This year we will be continuing with our safety drills, lockdowns, evacuations, fire and tornado. Fire drills have already been taking place in each building. Some of these drills may be combined. For example, we may have a shelter in place followed by an evacuation of the building.
In past years we have notified you the week before lockdowns/intruder drills were going to occur. We WILL NOT be doing that this year. Staff will be teaching the students what the protocols are in the buildings over the next few weeks. Please do not be surprised or alarmed if your child(red) come home asking questions or talking about the things they are learning. Each of these drills are mandated by the state and required for us to complete. We WILL continue to send out a letter from the building when a lockdown or evacuation drill has occurred so that you know prior to students coming home that it was only a drill.
COVID has complicated things for us in most areas of our daily functioning and this is true for our drills. Rest assured that the students will be required to wear their masks and keep social distancing measures up during the drills. We will continue to treat COVID as the primary threat. Should a situation arise where the safety of the students is compromised, COVID would be the secondary threat and the physical safety of the students first.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your building principal.
Thanks!
Michelle Petrillo, Director of Operations
Report Cards and Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on NOVEMBER 22nd and 23rd in the evenings. These will be Virtual this year and the building principals will have more information for you soon.
Any questions can be answered by the building principals.
Thanks!

Curriculum and Assessment Updates
District Assessments: these will be completed each quarter this school year. These DO NOT impact student grades, but do give us additional information on student progress. They are done in the areas of math and language arts and are done in the classroom with the teachers. This provides data to determine overall growth based off the curriculum the staff is using.
STARS Testing: Students have math and language arts testing every other week. This provides the staff with information regularly on any gaps that students may have in learning and allows the teachers to continue to provide additional support daily.
Please reach out to your building principals for any specific questions you may have!
Thanks,
