Transportation Timeline 2023-24; Change in Transportation Forms Due by April 15
Transportation planning for 2023-24 has begun. Eagle Ridge Academy is happy to announce there will be no increase in transportation fees for the 2023-24 school year. In order to build the best routes, formally communicate the routes, receive feedback from families, and finalize the published routes, we need your timely participation.
The Academy offers a hub transportation system with centrally located stops within communities and does not guarantee a stop within walking distance of your residence. If you wish to be included in the routing for the 2023-24 school year and are not currently using Academy-provided transportation, please complete a Change in Transportation Form by April 15, 2023. We also ask that you complete the form if you wish to discontinue transportation for the 2023-24 school year. If there will be no change to your transportation, no action is required.
Transportation contracts for 2023-24 will be available on the Academy’s website on June 1, 2023. Signed transportation contracts with full payment must be submitted by July 1, 2023. Once the completed contract is signed and the full payment is received, your child will be assigned a bus route. We are unable to guarantee transportation for your child(ren) if the Transportation Contract and full payment are not received by July 1, 2023. Contracts and/or payments received after July 1 will be assessed a $50 per student late fee and students will be added to transportation as space allows.
For questions regarding transportation, please contact Karen Conner, Operations Manager, at kconner@eagleridgeacademy.org. Please see the following timeline for transportation for the 2023-24 school year.
Eagle Ridge Academy Transportation Timeline 2023-24
May 15: Building of initial routes. Initial routes will be built using data from students currently using Academy-provided bus service, data from Transportation Change Request Forms, and data from all new students who have requested transportation upon enrollment for the 2023-24 school year.
July 1: All families new and returning, including those who used Academy-provided transportation for the 2022-23 school year, must complete a 2023-24 Transportation Contract and pay in full to guarantee transportation for the first day of school. Transportation Contracts from the 2022-23 school year will not carry over to the 2023-24 school year. Contracts and payments received after July 1, 2023, will be assessed a $50 per student late fee and transportation will not be guaranteed for the first day of school. Contracts received without payment will not confirm transportation and bus placements will not be reserved.
August 1: Final routes will be published based on contracts received by July 1, 2023. Additional changes to routes will be made only for safety concerns, not for convenience in location. The Academy reserves the right to make changes to routes that might affect the timing or location of bus stops.

Schools of Logic & Rhetoric News
Congratulations, March Pillar Award Recipients! - Missy Madigan, Schools of Logic & Rhetoric Assistant Principal
CIPHER (Citizenship, Integrity, Perseverance, Honor, Excellence, Respect) is more than a motto, it’s what we strive to follow in our actions with fellow Gryphons.
The Schools of Logic & Rhetoric hold monthly Pillar Assemblies in which six students from each grade level in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric are recognized for displaying CIPHER throughout the month. Each student is nominated for a Pillar Award by one of their teachers, who writes a short paragraph describing how the student exemplified their pillar, which is shared with the student body.
Congratulations to our March Pillar Award recipients! Thank you for demonstrating CIPHER every day and for being role models at Eagle Ridge Academy.

Classical Corner: Finding Beauty
Dear Families,
Here at Eagle Ridge, one of our highest aims is to continually turn the students’ eyes toward that which is true, beautiful, and good. Recently, we as a staff have been reminded of the importance of doing the same for each other. This effort has been led by our Classical Co-Op, a team of teachers and administrators who work to keep Classical Education at the forefront of everything we do. The responses have already begun inspiring others–encouraging others to pick up a new book, discover a new series, or simply be reminded to keep their eyes open for the beauty that surrounds us. Indeed, if we are a Classical institution, it should be our aim to turn all stakeholders’ eye toward the true, the beautiful, and the good. So we come here to share and help you consider in your own lives–what has inspired you lately, what have you found beauty in? We hope sharing what has moved us in the last months helps to inspire similar conversations among parents, around dinner tables, and throughout our community. Enjoy, and may you find beauty wherever you go!
"I was inspired at a recent wedding by a beautiful place–The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan. It had beautiful architecture--classical design with marble floors, original paintings, beautiful gardens, detailed molding. It was all original and such a treat to be standing in such beauty.” - Michelle Mills; Kindergarten Teacher
“Just last night, I found a new-to-me series on Disney+ called Earth Moods. It is essentially slow transition video over landscape paired with soft music. Highly recommend!" - Missy Madigan; SoL/R Assistant Principal
"A morning walk, feeling the strengthening of the sun on my face, and being rejuvenated by the thought of the coming spring was truly good and beautiful." - Dan O’Brien; Humane Letters Teacher
“Over the weekend, my younger two boys had part one of their taekwondo black belt testing. Both of them had to write essays about how taekwondo impacted their life. They each wrote about how both taekwondo and school emphasized integrity and perseverance and how both school and taekwondo, because of these tenets, helped them grow as people.” -Erin Johnson; SoL/R Principal
"I love when you have a book that you are eager to return to while at the same time mourn that moment you finish. That is exactly how I felt reading Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s book, Purple Hibiscus. It is a beautifully written book through and through. The author pulls you in, expertly guiding your empathy from one character to another. An unexpected twist, a well written ending--definitely a beautiful book that has stuck with me..” -Suzannah Toso; Classical Enrichment Teacher
“Sharing natural beauty with family and friends, whether a brief appreciation of a stunning sunset, an impressive moon, or a full day in the wilderness, is always refreshing, rejuvenating, and peaceful. In winter months when it’s so easy to want to retreat inward, it’s essential to make time and space to revel in the wonder and awe that nature provides on the daily.” - Christine Kelash; Instructional Coach and 6th Grade Teacher
Sincerely,
Suzannah Toso

Got Pi?
Pi Day on March 14 (3.14) is a tradition at Eagle Ridge Academy. Our 4th graders have been practicing memorization of pi over the last month. Our top eleven 4th graders showed off their amazing memorization skills by reciting pi – with the 1st place winner, Munusar A, reciting an impressive 221 numbers of pi during the morning presentation. His prize was an entire apple pie to take home! Coming in at an honorable 2nd and 3rd were Charisma and Benjamin A.
5th grade scholars enjoyed their day by solving the area, diameter, and radius of pizzas in a class activity; reading the story About Sir Cumference and the Round Table; and bringing in circular objects and voting on the most creative, most colorful, most useful, and favorite circle.
All 4th and 5th graders celebrated at the end of the day by enjoying a piece of pie in the forum. It was as simple as 3.1415!
