Meet Our Staff- Ellie
Our "Meet the Staff" continues by featuring Ellie! She is a staple to the office with her calming demeanor and voice of reason.
Name: Ellie Shoup, MS-Mental Health Counseling, CPP-G; EAP Counselor and Prevention Educator, YOU(th) Decide Project Coordinator
About Me: I was born and raised in the heartland of Ohio. After moving around and attending a few different colleges I finally graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor’s in English. I then took a break from school to raise my 4 beautiful children in the Rochester, NY area. In 2014 I graduated from St John Fisher College with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, then moved to Watertown area to be close to my precious grandkids (and their parents). I have been working at Pivot for 6 years, first as a Student Assistance Counselor and for the past 3 ½ years as an Employee Assistance Program counselor doing what I love.
How I de-stress: The best de-stressor I have is hanging out with my grandchildren and family. I love to be outside so whenever the weather is nice I try to get out for a walk. Otherwise I love creating and my go-to for that is sewing clothes or quilts. I also enjoy creating greeting cards using stamps.
Favorite Movie/childhood book: I grew up without a television so I don’t really have a favorite childhood movie but the first movie I watched in the movie theater was “The Love Bug” and I remember laughing so hard! One of my favorite books was Curious George.
What I want to do after Coronavirus: Go to thrift stores and garage sales. I also hope to continue to have Zoom meetings with family members that are out of town!
