KKK Initiation Ceremony
The picture above is showing an initiation ceremony of the KKK. This picture is significant because it is showing that the number of people supporting and becoming a part of the Klan was growing at a high rate. At the Klan's peak in the 1920's, about 15% of the eligible nation was in the KKK. This means the group consisted of around 4-5 million men. This is a very significant amount, and created a roaring time period for the United States. We chose to include this photograph in our exhibit because it is showing us first hand what the initiation was like among the Klan members. The large population of people involved with the KKK made for a very entertaining/disturbing time period in our history.
