Advent Week 3, Joy

This Advent season we remember the Joy we find in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ Jesus, our Savior. In the midst of sorrow, sadness, pain, chaos, there is joy! The joy we celebrate this season does not come from material possessions, or holiday lights and Christmas Trees (though these things are great!), but from knowing the King who has come and is still yet to come. The joy we can find this season comes from knowing the Gospel of Jesus Christ; that he came, born as a baby in a stable to be the savior of the world. This is how great God's love is for us. And by this fact we find joy.

The angels appeared to the shepherds in their field and said: "Fear not, for behold, I bring good news of great joy that will be for all people!" (Luke 2:10). We are told not to be afraid because we have a savior! The proclaiming of this joyous good news is still amazing today and we should remember that no matter what life throws at us, no matter or circumstances or hardships that we may face in this season, we can find joy in the good news of Jesus Christ!

And when they heard the good news the shepherds were moved to seek the Christ child. I pray that throughout the rest of this Christmas season God would restore in hearts the joy of His Salvation and that by our joy we would be moved to seek His Son.
