---INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 11, 2016---

PARCC

PARCC testing will begin on Monday, April 11. Students whose parents have submitted a written notice indicating a refusal to test are not permitted to attend class during the testing and instead will attend a study hall in the PAC lobby.


SCHEDULING AND PROCTORING UPDATES:

A folder with scheduling and proctoring information has been shared with you via Google Drive. Please check the folder regularly for PARCC updates.


LIBRARY INFORMATION:

For the duration of PARCC testing, the tank and laptops will not be used. Study Hall students will not be permitted to use the library. The library will be closed for lunch. If students in the morning session finish before lunch starts, the library will re-open. The floor computers will be open to teachers with classes only when testing is not in session. The Senior Study will be open to seniors only when testing is not in session.

ANNUAL EVALUATION INFORMATION

The annual evaluation season is approaching quickly and there have been significant changes to the process. In addition, we have provided a list of professional development hours that you have completed this year. If you have any questions, please reach out to the administrator responsible for completing your annual.

END OF THE YEAR INFORMATION

June 15 - F Day

June 16 - Exams (Block One: English, Block Two: Social Studies)

June 17 - Exams (Block One: Math, Block Two: Science)

June 20 - Exams: (Block One: World Languages)

June 21 - 1/2 Day for Students, Graduation

June 22 - 1/2 Day for Students, Final Day for Staff and Students

GRADING POLICY UPDATE

Several teachers have asked about the status of the "minimum grade of 50% for the marking period" proposal. Dr. Smith has decided not to implement the proposed change to the grading policy for the 2015-16 school year. We will keep you updated about any future discussions regarding changes to the grading structure.

BUDGET UPDATES

A preliminary budget was introduced at a recent Board of Education meeting. Please click here for more information.

UPDATES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

The Division of Teaching and Learning in the NJDOE is looking for educators to participate in a newly formed Advisory Council. If you are interested in applying, please check out this link for more information.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Nurses and Field Trips

Please remember to inform Pam and Kelly as soon as possible if you are planning a field trip that will require a nurse.


Grades

The marking period ends on April 15. Please make sure that your gradebook is up to date so there are no surprises at the end of the marking period! If any students are failing your class for the quarter, please be sure to notify their parents. Grades should be finalized by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 22.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Project Based Learning is a major district initiative, and the NJPSA is offering a professional development opportunity entitled Project Based Learning Via Google Apps. Please let us know if you are interested!
