Julius Dorsey Elementary

Week of August 31, 2015

Principals Corner

Thank you for a great first week of school. Your commitment to students is crucial to their success. Core belief " Staff members must have a commitment to children and a commitment to the pursuit of excellence."

We will continue to our class counts this week to ensure our enrollment numbers. In the next few weeks we will move forward with leveling. We want to count every student who is enrolled at Julius Dorsey in order to continue our current structure.

Bulletin Boards

All Bulletin boards must be completed by Friday, September 4, 2015. Ensure that all bulletin boards are completed by the end of the 1st week, every six weeks.

Lesson Plans

Please make sure lesson plans are completed and sent in by Monday. Remember the plans you are sending in should be for the following week not the current week. We should be planning ahead.

Weekly Focus

We will continue with Alignment of LO and DOL. A link was sent last week directly relating to LO and DOL. Please make sure you have viewed it as well as printed the certificate when completed.

Today is the last day for K-2 reading teachers to attend the I-station training. It will be held at Anderson beginning at 3:15. If you chose to attend the I-station training you will still be responsible for the information discussed at our PD. Please remember you have 3 days to choose from when attending these sessions.

Professional Development

As stated previously we will briefly discuss LO/DOL alignment as well as SLO's. You are expected to be ready in the library at 3:15pm.

Spirit Day

Every Friday is Spirit Day, both students and teachers may wear jeans for a fee along with a Dorsey, College or Uniform Shirt. Teachers pay $1 and student will pay $.50. Student will turn in money to their teacher. You are expected to collect and fill in students information on the tabulation sheet. All money is due in the office by 9:00 AM.
