Tomorrow starts the window of the spring Reading All Star Program Challenge for this year! Students will be bringing home a form with more information. Participating is easy though! Students turn in their form showing the books they read and they will earn a FREE student ticket to a Greenville Drive baseball game in April. We would love to see more of our Mustangs at the game this year so please encourage your child to read over the next month to qualify.

Student Research Project
A current Greenville County student is doing a research project and she has asked for parents of elementary students to complete a survey where the child responds to questions. The survey provides a description, a parent consent, a minor consent, and then asks elementary-aged participants to choose their favorite image out of a list of images and asks for the parent's income and highest level of education received. No identifying information (Names, emails, ages, phone numbers) are collected. This is completely optional.

Smart Watches and Phones
Parents, we need your help. We have noticed that many students have returned from the winter break with devices that are causing distractions in class. The district recently revised a rule concerning technology for students. Specifically at the elementary level, personal electronic devices (including smart phones and watches) cannot be used by students during the instructional day. All personal devices must remain out of sight of others and be silenced during this time. Students who have such devices out, will be asked to put them away. If it continues to be an issue, further consequences will be implemented.
2025-26 School Year Calendar Released
Greenville County Schools has released the 2025-26 calendars, which include the 5K-12 and 4K student calendars in both English and Spanish and the employee calendar. In accordance with state law, the calendars reflect 180 scheduled instructional days and ten professional development/teacher workdays.
As a reminder, GCS now releases calendars two years in advance so that families and staff can plan ahead, and the 2024-25 calendars for the upcoming school year were released in December 2022.
Mammogram Bus at MRES!
Mitchell Road will be hosting the Mobile Mammogram Bus on Friday, February 16 from 8:30-11:30am. Parents, family members, and the community are welcome to participate. Breast Cancer impacts 1 in 8 women. Early detection can make all the difference! If you are interested and meet the eligibility requirements, please call to schedule an appointment.
Capturing Kids' Hearts - January
This month we are working on respect. Part of respect needs to be for ourselves. Our focus for this month is "Honor You - Honor Me". It is important to give honor and value to ourselves and others. Here are links to our newsletters for this month for parents to reinforce this skill at home with students: January CKH Newsletter in English and January CKH Newsletter in Spanish.
