Check Out The Engineering Activities Planned For This Event!
Parents are invited to participate in the engineering project planned in for your child's grade level(s). Feel free to stop by other grade levels to check out other engineering projects!
Kindergarten: Push, Pull, Go Rube Goldberg Style
Students will work with their families to create a machine that begins with a push or a pull and includes three moving parts. (Mechanical Engineering)
1st Grade: Raft Regatta
Families will work together to construct sails and test them by sailing their raft down a water trough in competition against other students! (Mechanical Engineering)
2nd Grade: The Great Spinning Top Challenge
Families will engineer a spinning top out of various materials provided. Students will use their prototype to compete in the longest spinning top challenge at school following this event! (Mechanical Engineering)
3rd Grade: Ready, Set, Recycle!
Come for an exciting night of iteration. Families will work together to improve scholars' derby cars made from recycled materials. Families will be able to modify scholars' designs and test them on the race track! (Mechanical Engineering)
4th Grade: American Indians - Early Engineers
Come help your student design a structure that will help tribes successfully store clay pots filled with food, so that they can survive long, harsh winters. (Civil Engineering)
5th Grade: Can You DIG It?
Families will be making sedimentary rock models and taking core samples of their models. Students will lead their families through the processes involved in sedimentary rock formation. Families will be engineering a coring device to extract a core sample from the model.(Geotechnical Engineering)
Don't Forget To Shop The Book Fair!
