Cool Cats Update
Week of April 23 - 27
Monday Motivation
We are here to do good things for our students, our coworkers,
and our community. One School. One Team. One Passion. We
represent qualities such as caring, sharing, connection,
integrity, and excellence. Our culture mirrors those attributes.
Let’s continue to make our school the best place to work
where everyone is inspired to be the best they can be.
What we do, we do well. Let’s keep the courage to shape a
better future for our students.

- Our Co-curr team looked at a whole lot of data last week on our demographics. This time around, you are going to be the authors of our campus story. You will be given several ideas of what we should be telling our community about Our School. Why? Because schools build their brand when they share the stories that answer, “why do you send your child to that school?"
- Everyone else, you will work in small groups to talk about our processes. So, what school "processes" am I even talking about? These are the actions you and I take to achieve the purpose of our school - our Vision. It's those things that you do by habit, by custom and those things that may help or hinder our progress. There are different types of school processes that can be studied: instructional, organizational, administrative and continuous school improvement processes. Today you will study ONE of them: Instructional Processes, You and your group will discuss and determine our processes for curriculum planning in Math, Reading, Writing OR Technology. You can choose which group you would like to be in. You and your group members will begin to answer 4 questions: What is the purpose for developing our process? What will the outcomes be? What does this process look like? What evidence will you have to show progress?
You are probably asking yourself, why is Kristen asking me to think about these things? Isn't that her job? As you all know, when Sunset Valley came to be, we all wanted to create a school like no other. Remember our vision? It's to create an optimal learning experience that promotes ongoing collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and communication with students, teachers, parents, and community members for the success of all students. You are an important PART of making this vision come true for all of us and that is why we all need you!
