The Parents For Education (PFE) ended their Disney Raffle on Tuesday night with the winner of the raffle being pulled at the Committee of the Whole meeting. Over 1,400 tickets were purchased, raising $42,000 for the PFE. Ticket number 1281 was the selected winner. Congratulations to the winner and thank you to all who participated.
The Board of Education accepted donations from the PFE and the Music Parents Association for a total amount of $141,541.17, raised during the 2021-2022 school year. Thank you to all who supported and donated to either association. The District appreciates your dedication and support.
The Board of Education discussed the Orland School District 135 phone app. The phone app is available for both iPhones and Andriods and has links to school calendars, lunch menus, Skyward and communication from schools. Directions on how to access the phone app can be found on the District website.
The Board reviewed the CLEAR - Annual Residency Verification Program. CLEAR is being proposed as a new program for families to prove residency starting in the 2023-2024 school year. CLEAR uses public record databases to help verify families’ addresses. CLEAR would not completely eliminate the document-submittal process but would decrease the amount of families who would have to submit documents. CLEAR will increase efficiency for families in the registration process and add a layer of security to the school district. The CLEAR Program will be up for Board approval at the November Board of Education Meeting.
Liberty and High Point schools renewed their recognition as Apple Distinguished Schools. 689 schools worldwide in 36 countries hold this distinction. Four schools currently hold this recognition in our district: Century Jr High, Meadow Ridge, Liberty and High Point.
October is National Principal Month. The Board of Education presented a proclamation to all 19 Principals and Assistant Principals in recognition of their dedication and tireless efforts in supporting our students and staff.
The Board of Education accepted a book donation from Girl Scout Unit 614 for all 10 school libraries.
