What the Tech?
Your Monthly Instructional Tech Newsletter - November 2017
Afraid to Jump In? Don't Be!
Greetings!
I can't believe it is only a week until Thanksgiving break is here! Time is flying by!
Since this is the month of thanks, please know that I am thankful for the chance to work with amazing educators such as yourselves on a daily basis! I truly love what I do!
This brings me to my main purpose for this section. I know that making the leap to try new technology tools/resources with your students can sometimes be a scary or overwhelming thought! It's hard to try new things when your usual routines are well polished and working smoothly.
I'm writing today to let you know that it's totally ok to be nervous to step out of your comfort zone and that I am here to help you! One of my favorite things to do with teachers is to come co-teach in your classroom with you! I will gladly work with you to schedule a day where I can come be your support in the classroom. Implementing new technology tools can be much easier when you have two adults in the room to help explain steps and troubleshoot any hiccups that may occur!
I was lucky enough to co-teach with Mr. Smith at Wedgwood Middle a couple of weeks ago and it was a great experience for both of us AND the students! We taught them how to create in Buncee and now Mr. Smith reports that students are actually requesting to use this tool in class!
Plus, as soon as this hits your inbox, I'll be co-teaching with Ms. Yanger at Greenbriar Elementary to introduce the 5th graders to Chromebooks for the first time.
Please utilize me in this way if it will help you! Simply send me an email or sign up to meet and discuss it with me during a campus visit! I would love to come spend some time in your classroom with you and your students!
Tech Highlight of the Month - #BookSnaps
#BookSnaps are a super fun and easy way to help kids discuss what they are reading using tech tools they already know about! #BookSnaps can be done with Snapchat, Buncee, Seesaw, and more!
Tara Martin is the mastermind behind #BookSnaps and truly explains it the best.
