UPCOMING EVENTS THIS WEEK
PLEDGES DUE TUESDAY
REMINDER: Pledges are due this Tuesday, February 12th.
THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone for supporting the Spell-A-Thon this year! We appreciate the donations from our amazing DH community that help to directly fund technology and materials for our students and teaching staff. We highly appreciate the PTA's support of the Spell-A-Thon and the community effort that is involved in making it all work!
VALENTINE’S DAY NOTE/ REMINDER FOOD POLICY
With Valentine’s Day approaching, I want to remind everyone about School Committee Policy 6619 Life Threatening Allergies, which was approved by the School Committee in August of 2015. This policy states that, “In response to the presence of food-based allergies, parents/guardians may not send outside food/candy/drink to share in the classroom. As part of a District-wide initiative to discourage the use of food as a reward, both teachers and parents/guardians are encouraged to recognize and celebrate students by methods that do not involve food. For this same reason, any projects or classroom activities should also avoid the use of food items”.
If your child’s class is exchanging Valentines, we ask that you strictly adhere to this policy. This is a school-wide rule and no Valentines that have a food ‘treat’ will be exchanged in the classroom. Your child’s teacher may have additional requests/ instructions if their classroom is exchanging this year (Please contact your child's teacher regarding their specific plans for the occasion).
For all parents/ guardians of current 4th Grade Students, keep an eye our for paperwork and an email coming out this week with next steps and a link to relevant forms and information.

Bravehearts Reading Program
A bookmark will be coming home with students on Monday with the following link: TicketToRead.net. All the information you need to get started is on the site. Students may earn up to 1 free Bravehearts ticket a month for reading ten books.
Please Note: Parents may decide how many chapters equals a book if a student is reading a longer chapter book. For younger students who may not be reading yet, parents may also decide what work equals a book. Additionally, for those younger students, reading a book to students may also count for the purposes of completing the reading log. They key is that students are reading!
