Team -
November is the cloudiest month of the year in Vermont - this partnered with us not having yet had a break and the end of quarter 1 make for a challenging time of year.
With this in mind I want to encourage you all to consider - Who Needs to Yell at You? (see below)
Because … “caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is an act of self-perseveration, and that is an act of political warfare.” - Audre Lorde
And while “thousands of tired, nerve shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home [and that] wilderness is a necessity” (John Muir) we all know that because we’ve already chosen to live here. So get outside this weekend regardless of the weather and how much grading you have and breath in the fresh air or find another way to take care of yourself.
In gratitude and partnership,
Meg

- From Pat H: I’m asking/challenging everyone not to use trying out for basketball as a threat. Instead ask students how you can support them academically to succeed in their effort to be on the team. Change the way we are being perceived by our students. Students are expecting you to start using basketball as a motivator to do work or change behavior. Previous experience has shown that this doesn’t work and only strains our relationships with students. Students play on athletic teams to feel as part of a team and/or real success. Thank you for being a caring adult in our students’ life.
