A Message from the Principal
February is a great time to snuggle up with a book, as winter is in full swing! Here are a few of my favorites. Snowflake Bentley by Jacqueline Briggs Martin and Thank you Mr. Falker by Patrica Polocco. Check them out at your local library!
In February, we will also celebrate the 100th Day of School and Valentine's Day! This is a perfect time to focus on kindness and service to others. How can you help your family, friends or neighbors? What will you do to brighten someone’s day this month?
We are still in the heart of winter, so our students need to be wearing the appropriate winter gear. Our supply of mittens is slowly disappearing.
A safety reminder for all parents during morning drop off. Please drop off your children at the sidewalk, even those eating breakfast. For safety, we cannot have parents using the staff parking lot to drop students off.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are Feb. 15th from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. Conference letters will be sent out to all parents via your student’s Friday Folder in the coming days.
INDIVIDUAL CLASSROOM SNACKS
Many classrooms have a designated time for snacks during the day. Lately, we have seen a vast increase of students that are hungry, but come without a snack. Please remember to pack a snack for your child daily. Please also remember that there is free breakfast every morning starting at 7:45am in the gym.
Parent Teacher Conference Times
Please be sure to check your student's Friday Folder as your conference letter and time of conference will be enclosed.
The Reading Corner
Thank you to all Madison Caregivers for supporting your children with reading at night and filling out Read and Respond Sheets. You all play a crucial role in developing proficient readers, writers and thinkers. At February conferences your child's homeroom teacher will share SFA data and growth with you. If you have any questions, concerns or general comments please do not hesitate to contact me. You are also welcome to stop into the SFA room during conferences (Room 207-the former computer lab). I will be available to answer any/all questions as well.

Hello Madison Families!
I wanted to give you an update on Life Skills lessons here at Madison. This information has been sent home in Friday Folders as well. Right now, our K-3 students are in their Child Protection unit. In these lessons they are learning how to keep their body safe in many types of situations. Our 4-5 classrooms are working through Bullying lessons. In these lessons they learn what the definition of bullying is (Recognizing), and what to do if they see Bullying happen in our school (Report and/or Refuse). If you have any questions about lessons that are taught, please feel free to reach out using the contact information below.
Before Winter Break I had sent home permission slips for our partnership with Grow It Forward. Grow it Forward is providing food bags to be sent home weekly to families that meet the qualifications on the permission slip. If you are interested in this program and need a new permission slip, please give me a call or send me an email so that I can send one home.
Madison will be collecting hygiene items during the Help for the Homeless drive! Please consider donating these much needed items to help our families in need.
