Deerfield Elementary
February 2020
Greetings from the Office!
District Math Goal
All students will be proficient in the basic math facts of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by the end of fourth grade.
We have been working hard at this goal here at school and would like your help. Just like reading at home every night is important, so is practicing math facts. In order to best help our families with this goal we will have a survey for all families to take at parent/teacher conferences. It will help guide us to ensure that math facts are being practiced at home. Please give the survey back to your child's teacher or in one of the drop boxes around school.
Please don't hesitate to contact the office or myself with questions. We are here to help!
Thanks,
Melinda Kamrath
DES Principal

2019-20 PTO NEWS
The PTO has been busy discussing where to spend available funds we've raised from our recent fundraisers. Last month we voted to fund the sun shade, water bottle filling station and sensory flooring supplies. We found out we received a bonus 5% from our last Culvers Scoopie night, which added an extra $259.69! We will be adding in money raised from the Clothing fundraiser, Winter Wonderland Dance, and some leftover funds from the tree light purchase to our available funds and will discuss our next purchases at the February meeting.
We recently made a donation to the High School Choir/Band program for an enrichment activity they hosted. We also sponsored a 3 Screens Enrichment program on January 30th that the kids really enjoyed and will be helping sponsor an Olympic Speed Walker to come in. We hope you enjoyed the Winter Wonderland dance as well! We had a great turnout and everyone seemed to have a blast!
In February we will be kicking off our annual school supply drive. Look for the sign-up posted on the PTO Facebook page soon!
Our next meeting will be held on February 12 at 6:30 in the DES library. See you there!

Treasurer-Rebecca Schultz
Secretary-Kimberly McAloon
The 2019-2020 meeting dates are as follows:
· Wednesday February 12
· Monday March 9
· Tuesday April 7
· Monday May 11
Our goal is to have at least 2 parents for every grade level attend each meeting so we have a good representation across the school. Please consider joining us! We need parent participation to make this program successful. The agendas and meeting minutes are always posted on the elementary school home page for reference as well as the PTO Facebook page. We will also post periodic updates of PTO happenings and each grade level also has their own Facebook page for grade-specific discussions.
