This is week is staff appreciation week. If you are looking for a way to show your appreciation, please consider sending an email or drop off a note at the main office for a member of the Sehome staff who has made a positive difference for your child this school year. During this crazy year, our staff has stepped up in a big way to make things happen for students. I would encourage you to take a moment to reach out. Your words go a long way!

Parking Lot Safety

Now that we are back in session and many of our students are driving to school I would like to share some good parking lot practices here at Sehome.

First, please remember our speed limit is 5 miles per hour. It’s hard to go that slow but it is so important as we have many new drivers beginning their driving career. Remember when you first got your license? Were you a little nervous behind the wheel of the car you first drove? We also have babies, toddlers, and preschool-age kids using our parking lot to access GRADS.

Second, please practice being courteous to those vehicles trying to back out of their parking spots. Do a good deed, stop and allow them to back out. We have construction going on at the intersection of Bill McDonald Pkwy and Samish Avenue. This creates some afternoon waiting time and tempers can flare. Please stop, take a breath and remember we are all in this together. We all need to pay more attention to the drivers around us.

We want everyone to get home safely at the end of the day so we can see your wonderful faces the next day. If you have concerns with a vehicle in our lots it’s best to get their license number and a description of the vehicle and I would be happy to have a conversation with that person about our parking lot protocol. Thank you so much for using our parent pickup lane and staying clear of our bus loop.

Also, our entire bus loop is for busses and emergency vehicles only and there is no parking or drop off in the loop at any time- this includes sporting events and activities.

Thank you for your cooperation! It takes a village and we have a pretty great one here! Who you are makes a difference!

I can be reached at 360.676.6481 Ext. 5258.

Afternoon Office Hours

As a reminder, many teachers are working in the building in the afternoons and are ready to support students who need help- in person. If your student needs some additional help and would benefit from in-person support, please reach out to the teacher to schedule a time. The end of this rotation for the year is next week- May 13! Please encourage your child to finish this rotation strong. Teachers are ready and willing to help out.

Information Updates

If your phone number, email address, or mailing address has changed, please contact the Sehome Registrar with your new information so we can update your records.

Thank you.

AP Test Fee Update

Reduced costs for Advanced Placement (AP) tests

Over the past several years, we have worked to help reduce the fees for College Board Advanced Placement (AP) tests for our students and families.

For students who qualify for the free/reduced lunch program, the entire $95 fee is covered by a combined state and federal grant. Our district discounts test fees for all other students and families so they only pay $47.50, which is half the cost.

For spring testing this year, Bellingham Public Schools has received an additional Washington State AP subsidy grant, reducing the AP testing fee to $32 for all full pay students. If students and families have already paid the $47.50, they will receive a refund of $15.50 through their school ASB office after all AP examinations have been administered.
