Quarterly Service Project- Letters of Appreciation
At Blair Oaks Elementary, we strive daily to instill deep moral character into each of our amazing students. Right now there are countless men and women who sacrifice and give of themselves daily in order for the rest of us to have the lives, liberties, freedoms, protection, and peace of mind that we so often take for granted. We are reaching out to you for help on a project to show our appreciation to these individuals.
For this project, our students will prepare notes and letters of gratitude and encouragement which we will then send to these great men and women. If you know of someone who works in the service of others, please fill out the contact information below, and we will put them on our mailing list. This might include a member of the armed forces, a police officer, firefighter, etc. (This list is not limited to our local community.) We are, and always will be, grateful for the support we feel daily from our school community and look forward to working together with you, and through our wonderful students, to brighten the day and touch the lives of others.
Feel free to start writing those letters. Please return them to the office so they can be mailed accordingly.
CENTRAL BANK'S TAILGATE NIGHT
Central Bank's Tailgate Nights
Friday, September 7th, Starting at 5:00pm
Tailgate at the Blair Oaks vs Boonville football game on Friday, September 7th. Come early and come hungry! Paid attendees will receive a free T-shirt and free quarter-pound hot dogs, Hy-Vee chips and Coke and/or Pepsi products. Fans will need to arrive early while supplies last.
This is the eleventh consecutive year Central Bank has supported area schools with a tailgate party- they have given away over 58,000 t-shirts and too many hot dogs to count!
K-8 Cheer Fair
Girls in grades K–8 are invited to join high school cheerleaders to perform cheers and a dance at half-time of the Varsity game, Friday, September 14th, against the Versailles Tigers. The varsity game starts at 7:00. Girls are encouraged to sit in the bleachers next to the student section with the JV Cheerleaders until they take the field at half-time. All participants are free to leave at the conclusion of the performance. We ask that the girls wear their CheerFair shirt and bow to the game. It does not matter what kind of pants, leggings, or skirts they wear. Your child will receive free admission to the game that night.
A practice will be held on Wednesday, September 12th, from 3:15–4:30 pm in the Elementary Gym. Please fill out the form below and return it to the Elementary, Middle School, or High School office. Please be sure to mark “CheerFair - Attn: Coach Lackman” on the outside of the envelope. Please fill out a separate form for each participant. All forms may be placed in the same envelope with one total payment.
Girls on the Run
This is a new program starting for the girls at Blair Oaks this fall! Girls on the Run (grades 3-5) and Heart and Sole (grades 6-8) is about inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. This program envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.
Practices will start September 17th on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30. (Location to be shared at a later date.)
For questions, please contact Emily Libbert elibbert@blairoaks.org.
Library Nights- Begin September 11th
Library Night is a wonderful opportunity for parents and students to spend time together in a quiet setting. Many times a parent and child will read books together and then the student will be able to take an AR test immediately. Other times, parents will bring their own books from home and read it while their child is reading. Enthusiasm about books and reading shared between a parent and child deepens the child's interest in learning. We appreciate your support of Library Night.
See schedule of future dates listed below. We meet from 6:00-7:00pm in the elementary library. When school is in session, barring unpredictable winter weather, you can plan on the library being open that night. *Library Nights are also listed on our school calendar online.*
