A Note from Mrs. Schneider
Woodland Families,
Our 1st annual Read-A-Thon is one for the books! We have had a ton of fun raising money for our PTO to use to help us redesign our pod spaces. Along with bringing in donations, our students have enjoyed participating in our Spirit Week activities and sharing some of their favorite books in class. I LOVED reading my bedtime story and raffling off the book to one of our students who commented during our FB Live event. Congratulations to Hayley M. in Mrs. Motherwell's class who was our lucky winner of "I Promise" by LeBron James. Keep bringing in those donations! We will be participating in the Read-A-Thon all next week, too!
In case you missed one of our Bedtime Stories, we've linked them for you below. Don't miss Mrs. Rosinski's story tonight on Facebook.

How Your Support Will Help Us:
We would like to concentrate our fundraising efforts this year towards updating the pod spaces for a welcoming gathering space once social distancing ends. We plan to purchase books for the classrooms to help support the reading and writing curriculum with monies raised. We will also use funds to support our school-wide positive behavior intervention and support program, and to put on our Community Events.
10% of funds raised will be allocated back to your child's classroom teacher for the purchase of books!
Help us make this the easiest and most successful fundraiser ever.
Go to: https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/mmSZCe to sign up. You can do it all in a minute or two and really help us meet our goal!
How It Works:
•Activate your account at the link above.
•Use the easy online tools to tell friends and family about our Read-A-Thon.
•Track and log at home reading sessions online until the end date of October 30th .
That's it! Thanks so much for your support!
A Huge Thank You to the Avondale High School Leadership Team!
This has been a great experience for me seeing many of my former Wildcats and other high school students share a little bit of themselves and connecting with our younger students. If you haven't checked these out on our Facebook page, please do!
Thank you to the AHS Leadership Class and Mrs. Osborn and Ms. Bolton (a former student of mine) for supporting this activity!

This week, we focused on Forgiveness.
This means that you forgive those who have done wrong. You accept that people make mistakes. Forgiveness is the ability to move past being injured, and allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you.
Next week, we will focus on Creativity.
Happy Birthday!!

WAHS Radio
Celebrate Veterans Day (11/11/20) with WAHS Avondale Community Radio. All day we will honor veterans with song dedications, live shows and recorded interviews. Be part of the celebration and honor a Veteran you know:
1) Dedicate a song or give a shout out to a Veteran. Include his/her full name, rank, branch, service dates and war or conflict if applicable.
2) If you are a veteran, you can share your story or request a song that reminds you of your time served. (The song does not have to be military related). We want to share insight into the life of a soldier. We are also looking for Veterans willing to be interviewed over the phone for recordings or live via Google Meet on Veterans Day.
If you have questions or submissions, email station manager Marty Shafer at WAHS@avondaleschools.org. Also tune in for a special live interview at 6pm on November 11th with Siren and Team Honor! (Siren is a local band that wrote a song supporting Team Honor.)
New District Website
Avondale School District launched our new website! It is the same web address, but it has an updated look and it's much easier to navigate!
