School Health Advisory Council Vol. 2, Issue 2 Feb. 2021
- Currently in the United States, The Moderna and Pfizer Vaccines were approved by the FDA to be distributed.
- The safety of COVID-19 vaccines is a top priority.
- COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you from getting COVID-19. Two doses are needed.
- CDC is making recommendations for who should be offered COVID-19 vaccine first when supplies are limited. In North Carolina, the vaccine is being rolled out in phases by high risk groups to low risk groups with the elderly and healthcare workers getting the vaccine first.
- There is currently a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines in the United States, but supply will increase in the weeks and months to come.
- After COVID-19 vaccination, you may have some side effects. This is a normal sign that your body is building protection. You DO NOT get COVID-19 from the vaccine.
- Cost is not an obstacle to getting vaccinated against COVID-19. The vaccine is offered to every American free of charge.
- COVID-19 vaccines is just one of the important tools to help us stop the pandemic. It is important to continue wear your mask, wash and sanitize hands, and social distance/limit gatherings with crowds or people who do not live with you. These combination of protective measures is very important until enough individuals have received the vaccine so herd immunity can be achieved.
