Happy New Year!!!
We hope everyone had a wonderful week and the kids are (close to) ready to go on Tuesday! This time between New Year's and Winter Break (starts 2/17) is perhaps the best stretch of learning throughout the year with routines set, few distractions, focused kids, and cozy classrooms during the cold winter months. We look forward to a great month where our kids are living the Webster Vision every day- being compassionately connected, joyfully engaged, and always learning every day!
For the Calendar!
- Tuesday, 1/2: Return to school
- Tuesday 1/9: PTSA Meeting 9:30am

INTERESTED IN DISTRICT BUDGET DEVELOPMENT PROCESS?
If you have always wanted to learn more about the district budgeting process, please plan on volunteering as a member of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) for the 2018-19 fiscal year. This important advisory committee assists the district by providing the unique perspective of parents, business owners, and community members on our budget communication and process.
There will be four meeting times between February and April 2018, and each meeting will be one hour long. Meetings are scheduled for:
Thursday, February 1
Thursday, March 1
Thursday, March 22
Thursday, April 26
A light dinner will be provided from 5:00 – 5:15 p.m., with all meetings starting promptly at 5:15 p.m. and ending at 6:15 p.m. Meetings will be held at District Offices' Conference Room B, located on the third floor of Spry Middle School.
Residents interested in serving on the BAC should contact Lisa Borrino at Lisa_Borrino@webstercsd.org or 216-0017. If you have already confirmed your attendance with Lisa, no need to do so again. Thank you in advance for your willingness to take part.
REMINDER: SCHOOL START-TIME STUDY GROUP MEETING THIS MONTH
As a district, we strive to educate the whole child in all that we do both inside and outside the classroom. Having recently reviewed information about students' sleep patterns in regard to physical and mental health, we asked Superintendent Carmen Gumina at our November 2 meeting to design a process and gather feedback that would explore the issue of start times for our students. We invite any of you who are interested in learning more to attend an initial Webster CSD Start-Time Study Group meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at the Spry Middle School auditorium, 2nd floor, 119 South Avenue. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by e-mailing Larry_Wahl@webstercsd.org. Mr. Wahl is WCSD’s coordinator of strategic initiatives and will be leading the group’s work.
If the group determines that changes in our district are necessary and possible, those changes wouldn’t take place until fall 2019 or 2020, however, it is important that we begin to research this critical issue for our students.
