Happy Spring!
I hope this finds you all doing well! This has been another exciting few weeks at Denton Elementary School with spring coming and students returning to the cafeteria for lunch. The DES cafeteria and custodial staff have worked so hard to prepare for this change. I really appreciate the positive comments I have heard from some of you about the cafeteria reopening; it has really been a joy for us!
Please make sure your child has at least one mask each day when leaving for school. Sometimes children want to change their mask mid-day and if they have one, it makes them more comfortable. It is imperative that children wear masks when riding the bus as well.
If you would like to order a "Field Day" grade level t-shirt for your student, please see the flyer attached below. Mr. Pittsinger and Mrs. Karek are starting to work on plans for a modified event this year so watch for more information.
Vision and hearing screenings are scheduled to take place starting April 6th. All new entrants, Pre-K, kindergarten, and 1st graders will be screened as required annually by Maryland mandate. If your child has had a vision and/or hearing exam outside of school within the prior 12 months, and you do not wish your child to be re-screened, please provide the school nurse with written verification of that visit prior to the school screening dates.
CCPS is collaborating with Caroline Recreation and Parks to plan a 6 week summer program for DES. Half of the day will be academic and the other half will be for recreation. Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided. More information will be forthcoming in April.
Thank you for your continued support of Denton Elementary School!

Picture Day Information
Picture Day is Coming! We will have school pictures taken on March 23, 24, and 25. The first day will be for students in Prek, K, 3, 4A and 5A; March 24 will have a sign-up for virtual students; and March 25 will be for grades 1, 2, 4B, and 5B.
Order forms have been sent home and are attached below. Every student should have a picture taken for inclusion in the yearbook.
The link for sign up for virtual students is as follows: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050c4baeae2fa3fe3-112953. If your student continues to learn virtually, please sign up for a convenient time as soon as possible.
Transportation Information
The safety and security of your child is our utmost priority at Denton Elementary. When there are changes to the transportation of your child, it is critical that you notify the school by 10:00 AM. We appreciate your cooperation since we have staggered dismissal times and want to get the information to the staff in a timely manner.
Car Riders:
• School-issued car rider placards must be displayed each time you come to pick up your child. Without a school-issued placard showing, you will need to come to the front and sign your child out there.
• If you need another placard, notify Mrs. Sartwell or Mr. Breedlove.
• Please hang one of the small tags on your child's bookbag. This will help us ensure we have the right student in the right car.
• Teachers will be on duty beginning at 8:45 AM and 10:00 AM to help with car rider arrivals, and 2:30 PM and 3:40 PM to assist with dismissals.
Thank you,
Mr. Breedlove
