Time of Saying.....THANKS!
I would like to say THANK YOU!!! Thank you for trusting me and my staff with your children five days a week for seven hours. We love all of your children and take great PRIDE in working with them on a daily basis and helping them to learn to become lifelong learners and productive citizens alongside you! We want to say THANK YOU for being our partners in educating your child! You have heard the saying, "It takes a village!" That is so TRUE! We can't do it alone! You are such a valuable part in this process and we VALUE YOU!!! AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING US AND THANK YOU FOR WORKING ALONGSIDE US AS A TEAM!!! WE ARE SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU HERE AS PART OF OUR NORTH SIDE FAMILY!!!
If you would like to thank somebody on the North Side staff for something they have done to help you and your child, a handwritten note, or e-mail, or special message is the most meaningful way to say THANK YOU!!! If you need a way to get the note to that person or staff members e-mail address, etc..., please reach out to me and I'd be more than happy to assist you!
Yours in education,
Stephanie Leasure
Principal

It is that time of year....Please make sure your child is coming to school prepared for the weather. Students go outside for recess and need coats, hats, gloves and boots when it is cold! Most recess times are in the morning.

Our Trimester 1 Gallery Walk was a SUCCESS!!! Thank You For Your Help!!!
Student Drop Off/Pick Up: IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!!!
I want to say THANK YOU!!! Student drop off is getting better in the mornings. Please know we worry for your child's safety and our staff are not able to get outside to supervise students until 7:30 a.m. This is why we are requesting that you do not drop them off any earlier. We appreciate your help with this!
Pick up reminders are below for car line:
Car Pick Up:
We ask that you CALL BY 1:30 if you are making changes to your child's end of day dismissal. We are receiving too many calls close to 2:30 p.m. At this time, I have advised my office staff to let families know that we cannot honor changes past 2:00 p.m. This is for the safety of your child!
Also, if you are picking your child up in a vehicle, you MUST pick them up in the car line at the back of the building. You MAY NOT pick them up at door 1. We have had too many close calls where students are running across the front lot to a car and almost getting hit by a vehicle passing through. THIS IS NOT OKAY! We put procedures into place for all families to keep our students safe! We need all families to respect these procedures and help us keep all of the children safe. Waiting a few extra minutes in line is worth a safe child!!!! We appreciate you working with us!!!
Information From Our North Side Office Staff:
As a courtesy to our office staff, please try to avoid making phone calls to the office from 7:50-8:10 a.m. and from 2:30-2:50 p.m. During these timeframes we are working to get students into classes or ready to head home on busses or by car. We don't want to miss anything or make mistakes. We appreciate your help with this!
Office Reminders:
1. Book rental rates are located online at the East Noble website. You may pay it all at once or make payments each month, due on the 15th. Final payment is due on February 15th. Please know that if you are inquiring about free or reduced textbook fees, you MUST complete the free/reduced lunch application form. Call the school if you have any questions.
2. If your child is ill, please call our office and let us know by 9 a.m. if at all possible. Our office number is (260) 347-1354. 3. Please contact the office by 1:30 p.m. if you need to make changes to your child's transportation home for the day. We cannot guarantee the changes when you call after 1:30 p.m. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR THIS! Please note that the office phone may be on night ring during dismissal, please leave a message and we will call you right back as soon as dismissal is complete.
4. If your child is a car rider, please make sure to use your car tags each day. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE CAR TAGS, PLEASE STOP AT THE OFFICE TO GET SOME RIGHT AWAY!
5. If you need to change your child's bus or start bus transportation, please follow these steps:
Bus Change or Start Up Requests
If you need to change your bus location, please go to the North Side website, https://www.eastnoble.net/o/north-side-elementary, and follow these directions:
Click on the "Menu" at the top of the home page. Click the “For Families” tab and then the "Transportation" tab. When the drop down menu appears, you will see a link called “Transportation Change Request.” When you click that link, you will be taken to a form that you can fill out and submit electronically. It will notify transportation via email that a request has been submitted and they will begin working on fulfilling the request. Once arrangements have been made and confirmed with drivers, transportation will communicate the arrangements to parents.
Our November "Wildcat Way Winners" will be pulled later today! They will be posted on our social media sights. Look for their picture tomorrow!!!!

"Wildcat Way" Tickets - PLEASE CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE!!
Students and staff recite our Wildcat Way each day: WE ARE RESPECTFUL, WE ARE RESPONSIBLE, WE ARE SAFE. Please ask them how they show respect, responsibility and safety each day.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO CELEBRATE HOW PROUD YOU ARE OF THEM FOR RECEIVING THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT/TICKET!!! THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO THEM! Have you kept track of how many they have received thus far?
ENSC's focus on the social emotional learning of students and staff is so important! We are continuing to implement the School Wide-Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) with Restorative Practice framework. Cafeteria NEWS!!!
Are you taking advantage of our FREE school breakfast and lunch? We sure hope so!!!
Please NOTE: If your child packs lunch from home and chooses to purchase a milk from school, unfortunately, they must pay for the milk. Milk is only free for the reimbursable meals from the state. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please understand that our food shortage simply means that we can't always get some of the student favorites. We promise that students are still receiving a variety of lunches each week and we are offering peanut butter/jelly as a second option each day to students. Please call if you have any questions.
Students are still receiving a well-balanced meal with fresh fruit and vegetables. Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. (8:15 on Mondays). Please contact food services if you have any questions.
For our lunch menu, download the East Noble app below. Click on the school in the top right corner and tap on North Side. Once on North Side's page, tap the 3 lines at the top left corner and touch "dining" and you will find our lunch menu for each day of that week.

Have you downloaded our district app? It gives you access to information, events and schedules for all buildings!
FROM THE OFFICE OF MR. PERLICH, DEAN OF STUDENTS
Attendance
As we near the halfway mark of the school year, please continue to make attendance a priority with your child. Getting them here on time is also beneficial. We understand, in these times, we want students to stay home if they are having any symptoms. Help us in making sure if they are not experiencing any symptoms that your child is attending school. Try to schedule vacations and appointments during our breaks or scheduled days off. This allows your child to get the most out of their education.
Safety
We continue to practice our required safety drills every month. This prepares our staff and students in the event we would need to use them. If you ever have any questions, please reach out to me.
Bus
To North Side Elementary bus riders:
Thank you for making sure your child has a mask while riding the bus! To ride a bus, students need to wear a mask per federal mandates. Before a letter went out last month about needed your help in making sure students had masks, we were giving out about 50 masks a day. Since then, you have stepped up and we are around 5-10 a day. Riding the bus is a privilege and we don’t want to take that away from any of you. So, thank you for helping us with making sure they have a mask when they load the bus in the mornings!
Please contact me any time. The school number is (260) 347-1354 and my e-mail is jperlich@eastnoble.net

PLEASE MAKE SURE IPADS/CHROMEBOOKS ARE CHARGED AND COME TO SCHOOL DAILY!
COUNSELING CORNER WITH MISS HEADLEY:
Intrinsic Motivation
What is it? Simply put, it is a personal drive to complete a task based on interest and enjoyment. Some might call it an internal drive or underlying force of accomplishing tasks. There is no outside peer pressure, reward or threat from others to complete the task. It is simply something YOU want to gain from it. With this said, how do we encourage more intrinsic motivation in our children?
Here are a few strategies that may assist in encouraging intrinsic motivation in children.
- Give kids options and choices. Does your child have choices as how to perform or
complete a task? Don’t hover after giving the options.
- Nurture your child’s interests and explore those interests.
- Children need to set their own goals. Goals can be set in and outside of the classroom.
- Give children their own money. Give children an allowance, not for chores however as then
they believe that the only reason for the allowance is for completion of the task. The
chores should be done for the benefit of the family and the family unit.
- Praise all effort. Focus on the process it took the children and how much effort they put
into it. Be genuine.
- Celebrate their accomplishments!
- Help kids develop mastery. Help complete the task with them. One of the best way’s
children learn is doing the task along with you.
- Help kids discover their purpose. Help them understand, what are they learning, doing, or
why is this important?

Nurses Corner:
Parents, please, send your child with a change of clothes to keep in their locker or backpack. Accidents happen, whether it’s not making it to the restroom in time, spilled milk, or a mud puddle at recess, things happen. The children are always most comfortable in their own clothes, so please send them with a full change of clothes just in case. Thank you for your help!
I have a closet here in the nurse’s clinic for those who do not have a change of clothes, but unfortunately, stock is getting low. Clothes are often not returned. If you could, please, take a look at home and see if you have any clothes marked NS laying around and send them back in with your child. Also, I am always accepting clothing donations for the closet. If your child has outgrown some things, rather than donating to Goodwill, please consider sending them into the school to be used in our loaner closet. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Stay healthy!! -Nurse Whitney

Please collect Box Tops and send into school in a baggie or join the online Box Top App and scan your receipts. This earns money back for the school through our PTO
