Exley Art Club

Exley Art Club applications will be available on October 11, 2016 outside of the art rooms. Only 4th and 5th grade students will be accepted into the Exley Art Club. Students must be academically and behaviorally eligible (Passing grade of 70 or above and conduct grade of S or E, in all subject areas).

Since space is limited, we will conduct a random drawing from the completed applications received by the deadline, which is Thursday, October 20.

Your child will receive a notification letter on Friday, October 28 if his/her name is drawn.

ALL applications MUST be turned in to your art teacher, Mrs. Mendenhall or Mrs. Marker, no later than Thursday, October 20. No late applications will be accepted.

The Exley Art Club meets every Thursday morning from 7:25 until 7:55 a.m. We have lots of activities planned this year, including awesome collaborative projects for Exley Elementary and the Katy community. We had an amazing group of students last year and we're looking forward to this year!

Thank you,

Mrs. Mendenhall & Mrs. Marker

Family Math Night

We would like to invite you to a very engaging evening here at Exley. We will be hosting a Free Family Math Night on Wednesday October 26th from 6-7:30. This night is provided for Pre-K through Fifth grade students and parents of Exley. However, students who are not currently enrolled at Exley will not be able to participate in this event. Greg Tang, well known author and mathematical thinker, will be presenting to parents while students are engaged in math activities in the classroom alongside their teachers.

Greg Tang will give you as the parent a better understanding of how your children are being taught mathematics, which is often different from the way you were taught. His goal is to get everyone on the same page so parents, students and teachers can work as a community to foster and deepen our mathematical thinking here at Exley.

Our presentation of Math Night will include classroom engaging activities for students based on their grade level. We urge you to make arrangements to attend this fun, family night to support you and your child in their learning of mathematics.

We would like to thank the following businesses for donating items that we will be giving away to some lucky families during our math night:

 Target ($25 Gift Card)

 Altitude (Family day pass)

 Showcase Gymnastics (Free birthday party and entry to Halloween parent drop off night)

 Cinemark (Family of 4 pack)

 4 Hours of free tutoring from the Tutor Doctor

Please RSVP by clicking on the link and registering you and your family members for this amazing evening of learning. Please RSVP by Wednesday October 19th.

Maker Faire

The Katy ISD Library Media Specialists are hosting a Katy ISD Mini Maker Faire at the Robert R. Shaw Center for STEAM on Saturday, November 5th 9am until noon. Students in grades 4-8 are invited to visit Maker booths and try their hand at activities of their choice including wood engraving, green screen video creation, coding, blanket making, origami, straw rocketry and more. This will be a very fun event for our students in 4th and 5th grades. I hope to see some Exley students at the Maker Faire in November.
