Shifting Paradigms - Challenging Minds: Engaging Hearts

The Big "3" - Encouraging Excellence

Do what is right.

Do your best.

Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Definition: Knowing and doing what is expected of me.

The word responsibility is derived from the Latin word responsibilis which means "requiring an answer".

As an educator who desires excellence in our students, it will be required of them to provide an answer regarding multiple situations, circumstances and scenarios, which leads to our students understanding the principle of being proactive vs. reactive.

Proactive Model (above chart) (adapted from Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People)

The important point to note regarding the proactive model is the vertical line of demarcation representing one's paradigm - a pattern or model of thinking.

Paradigm is one's worldview - the overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world and all that is therein, as well as beliefs that are core and central to one's life.
