Good afternoon DCS!

It was an exciting day at DCS yesterday morning. We hosted Governor McKee and Commissioner Infante-Green as part of Westerly's work to pilot the "test and stay" for close contacts. Check us out on the news!

This month, our schoolwide theme is skills for learning: listening, focusing attention, using self-talk to stay on-task, and being assertive when asking for help with a learning task. In our morning announcements and school assembly, we’ll be reminding students of these skills, which help students be successful learners.

We will be re-establishing our school improvement team. Please complete this form if interested by October 15, 2021.

Nick Vunono Charity Fund: The Nick Vuono Charity Fund has a long history of offering resources and support to individuals with special needs and organizations that provide supportive services in the Westerly- Bradford area. Past awards have included adaptive accessories in homes, adaptive sports gear, playground equipment, bikes, I-Pads, computers, sensory swings, language development programs and other items not covered by insurance. The community is welcome. Must be 3 years old or older.

Clinic is located in the Cafeteria.

Registration process

Online registration [thewellcomp.com] is strongly recommended with an appointment time.
Walk-in registration is limited.

Mask requirements

All clinic participants must wear a mask. (Masks should fit snugly but comfortably over a person’s nose, mouth, and chin without any gaps.)
Masks will be available for anyone who needs it.
Exceptions are made for children younger than age two. People who don’t wear a mask due to a medical exemption are being referred to their primary care provider (PCP) for their flu vaccination.

Ready to Learn

Second Grade: In grade two, they are learning about why school is important and comparing our school to schools around the world. They are also creating a sense of community in their classrooms. Second Graders were also investing our grounds; looking for different kinds of trees, algae, and fauna. See pictures below.

BOKS (Build Our Kid's Success)

The BOKS Burst Weekly Activities, found in the September Fitness Calendar, are meant to get you and your kids up and moving throughout the day. Studies show that daily movement breaks increase focus, improve mood, and have many added health benefits. Let's all get moving this week with the below bursts!
