December Air Testing
Retakes for State AIR testing will begin on December 10th. Any student, grades 10-12, who has received a 1 or a 2 on English 9, English 10, Algebra 1, Geometry, American History, Biology, or American Government will be required to retest. So that students will be ready to test, remediation with subject area teachers, is available on the following schedule:
•Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:45
•Saturday Mornings from 9-12
Any student who has a 1 or a 2 on any of the above mentioned tests, should be attending these remediation sessions from now until December 6. To attend the remediation, students must register with Mrs. Asch in the counseling office or send her an email. (carrie_asch@plsd.us)
Students who do not attend the remediation will still be required to take the test. Students must earn 18 points total on these tests in order to earn their high school diploma.
Students can find their test scores by logging on to their Infinite Campus Portal and clicking on Assessments.

*Testing will begin each morning at 8:15. Students are expected to arrive on time and make any appointments during a different time. Any student with a Senior or Junior pass must arrive to school by 7:55 on these test days.
*Make up tests will be the immediate day following the test missed, if possible. Students with IEPs or 504 plans may have some tests to make up after winter break.

Students who need Wifi Access at home.
Students with limited or no internet access in their homes can gain access to WiFi for their homework and other school projects by checking out a Hot Spot from the media center.
AIR testing
College Credit Plus information night
The annual parent information night for College Credit Plus will be held on January 9th 2019 at 6:30pm in the Performing Arts Center at Pickerington High School Central. Parents and students that wish to participate in the CCP program next school year are encouraged to attend.
Representatives from COTC, Columbus State, and The Ohio State University will be there as well to meet and share their insights to help plan for long-term student success

The order form will close on December 21, so make sure you order before you leave for winter break! All items will be shipped to PHSC around January 7 and will be distributed to you at that time. Yearbooks are here!
We are trying something new this year, we are going to distribute the 2017-18 Yearbooks on December 20th (the last day of school for Central before Winter Break) from 8am-2pm.
If you are interested in purchasing an extra copy of the 2017-18 Yearbook, they will be for sale starting at 8am on December 20th and are first come, first serve. The books are $80 (cash or checks- made payable to PHSC Yearbook). Once they are gone, we are sold out for the year. Last year we sold out of the 2016-17 Yearbook in less than two minutes!
Counseling Corner
The State AIR testing continues next week.
The State AIR testing schedule is as follows:
December 17 American Government and make-up tests December 18 Biology and make-up tests
December 19-20 January 8-11 AIR makeup tests.
•All students who scored 1 or 2 on previous AIR test will be required to test.
•Testing will begin each morning at 8:15.
•Students are expected to arrive on time with their charged device. Those students who do not
bring their charged device will be required to remain in the testing room until the test is complete
and be required to test on a make-up day.
•Students will not be permitted to be on their phones during the entire time they are in the testing
room. All cellular devices and smart watches must be completely powered off and remain off until
leaving the testing location. Students who access their phones or smart watches in the testing location
will lose the opportunity to test, which is required for graduation.
•Students should eat a healthy breakfast, before the test.
•Students will not be permitted to eat during the test, however, students may bring a water bottle.
•Any student with a Senior or Junior pass must arrive to school by 7:55 on their test days.
•Any outside appointments should be made at a different time.
PSAT Results
If your sophomore or junior took the PSAT test in October, the results should be in the mail this week. Here is a link with a webinar that explains the results and how students may use their test results to help them with their college search and course selection for next year.

Happy New Year!
January will be a busy month with the start of the new semester and getting ready for scheduling classes for next school year. Students who need a schedule correction need to click on the schedule correction that can be found in Infinite Campus. Students who need an appointment with their counselor for other reasons besides a schedule correction can request to see their counselor through the individual request to see your counselor form found in their student email.
January 9th at 6:30 pm in the PHSC Performing Arts Center, is the CCP meeting for any student (with their parent) who interested in taking college classes for high school credit during next school year.
On January 29th at 6:30 pm in the PHSC Performing Arts Center, is a parent meeting to learn about scheduling for next school year, including information on graduation requirements, new classes offered, explanations of career pathways offered, AP vs. CCP classes, and an opportunity to talk to subject area teachers about curriculum. Students will receive this same information on our school wide scheduling day on the two hour delay intercession day on February 6th.
