Yellowjacket Firsties
We LOVE our Firsties!
What is happening this week?
This past week we began our ELA study about non-fiction text and extended it to our writing. Below is a picture of one of our classroom charts to help extend our reading and writing.
Report cards were sent home on Thursday. Please keep the copy for your records. If you would like to discuss your child's progress with your child's homeroom teacher it would be best to wait until after our Map testing is competed. Map testing begins this week and will be completed the week of January 31st.
In addition, the 1st grade SOAR assessment process will begin this week and end the week of February 7th. If you are not aware of our SOAR program below is a description directly from the BISD website:
Students in kindergarten through second grade are served in Students Off and Running (SOAR). All students will be a part of a gifted/talent pool, and all teachers will be certified to teach gifted and talented children. Identified gifted students will be provided with instruction and learning experiences in their classroom. The students will receive instruction designed to enhance talent and will include but not be limited to lessons in divergent thinking, deductive reasoning, and metacognition.
