Homework Help for Students Grade 7 to 10
Homework Help is a free online math help resource for students in Grades 7-10. Homework Help provides free, live one-on-one tutoring from Ontario teachers Sunday to Thursday from 5:30pm – 9:30pm ET. The program is funded by the Ontario government and administered by TVO's Independent Learning Centre. To log in, students will need to register with their Ontario Education Number (OEN), found at the top of their report card near their name.
(Your child’s OEN never changes so any of their Ontario report cards will have it.)

Track & Field, Mountain Biking!
Track & Field
Congratulations to all students that participated in the District Track and Field Meet on Thursday. Many of our students did very well and may personal bests were accomplished! Thanks for a fantastic season Panthers!
Mountain Biking
Another great day on the MTB trails last Friday at Durham Forest for team LDSB. Each of the races had busy start lines with lots of riders in each category. We are proud of all our riders and how they have continued to improve all season and work as a team to cheer on their team mates and other riders.
It has been an excellent season so far. Our next race is the Ontario Cup Race - June 17th at Hardwood Hills - Orillia. Should be an challenging and fun course.
A big thank you to our community coaches Tammy and Wally Stanton for their time and passion for the sport. As well as to the schools and staff for supporting our team.

Tick Information
Preventing tick bites
While not all ticks carry Lyme disease, it is important to avoid being bitten by a tick while enjoying the outdoors.
Take the following precautions to reduce the risk:
- Use tick repellents that contains DEET or Icaridin and follow manufacturers directions.
- Cover up
- Light coloured clothing may make ticks easier to see.
- Wear socks and closed footwear.
- Check for ticks
- Check and re-check yourself by paying special attention to your scalp, ankles, armpits, groin, naval and behind ears and knees. Do the same for others in your care.
- Wash and dry
- Shower or bathe after coming inside to wash away loose ticks and to check for attached ticks.
- After outdoor activity put clothes in a dryer on high heat for at least 60 minutes to kill any ticks.
- Check your pets
- Check your pets regularly
- Talk to your vet about protecting your pets from ticks.
If you live or work in a woodland area there are other steps you can take to prevent bites.
How to remove a tick
Remove the tick promptly to decrease the risk of getting Lyme disease. The procedure for tick removal is the same for humans and animals. Follow these steps:
- Use fine-tipped tweezers or a tick removal tool to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible. Do not use your fingers.
- Pull up with a steady motion. Do not squeeze, smother, burn the tick or use other remedies.
- Clean the bite area with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
- If the tick was attached for longer than 24 hours, ask your health care provider if preventive antibiotics is appropriate for you.
- Watch for signs and symptoms of Lyme disease. See your healthcare provider if you develop symptoms. Left untreated Lyme disease can cause serious health problems.
In the KFL&A area, ticks do not need to be submitted to KFL&A Public Health for testing. The testing of ticks is not intended to guide diagnosis and could result in a delay of appropriate treatment.
