Oh, no! Not Another Survey!
Wednesday Message Feedback Survey - Please Help!
Maybe summertime isn’t the best time to ask for feedback, but I use these months as a chance to reflect and look ahead. In doing so, I’d like your feedback on The Wednesday Message. At its core, the vision for this weekly parent communication tool is to keep the SH family informed about future events, celebrate successes, educate, and foster community. I’d like to know a little more about how you think that’s going. More importantly, what would make it better.
Would you consider taking a few moments to share some thoughts? We’re always looking to become better at Salford Hills. It’s part of our growth mindset. Your voice is important to us.
Thanks in advance for your role in producing a better product every week.
Dr. Purnell

REPOST: But Just As Good!
Summer School Begins! Really?
So... build in time during your child's day to maintain if not accelerate growth. Dropping the books and pencils in favor of sneakers and flipflops is a mindset. I maintain that it's not one or the other, but children can enjoy both... and should. But it doesn't happen without guidance and structure on the part of parents and care givers. Consider the following to help your child grow this summer:
- Continue to practice on First in Math through July 31st with your current login information. Finish the VIFs! Build your fact fluency!
- Keep READING every day! Log your minutes in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. Will you be a Reading Wizard?
- Keep WRITING. Write in a journal, send postcards to Dr. Purnell, or write to one of your previous teachers!
- Keep LEARNING, keep WONDERING, keep EXPLORING, keep GROWING YOUR MIND... there is so much to discover!
Start today. Build into the day 30 to 60 minutes (or more!) of academic time to keep skills fresh throughout the season and reap the benefits as we enjoy a new school year in just a few short months. While it may be rough surfing in the beginning, it'll be smooth sailing when your child is in the groove and having fun.
Thanks in advance for coming together as partners in learning for all our children.
Respectfully,
Dr. Purnell
