Message From Principal Webb
Hello families!
Just a reminder we have no school next week for spring break. I will not be sending a newsletter next Saturday so please read through the many items in this issue :) Enjoy your time off with family.
The Longfellow Longhorns have been busy again this week! I am beyond proud and amazed at the hardwork the school community did on the penny wars for PTA. The winner will be announced on Monday after spring break, however, 4th grade is looking pretty strong as of Friday!
Don't forget that ELP (Extended Learning Program) parent nominations are being accepted. The new Iowa Assessment (ISASP) information is still posted below. The practice test site can be found here: iowa.pearsonaccessnext.com
Finally, mark your calendar for April 4th at 5:30! The district will be hosting open houses at the different elementary buildings (including Longfellow) to welcome the new families that will be transitioning next year.
Sincerely,
Kelli Webb
Longfellow's 1st International Night
Join the Longfellow Staff in celebrating the diversity of our school for our 1st Annual International Night event!! Mark your calendars for Monday, April 22nd 6:00-7:30. This special event is where your family will have the opportunity to experience and enjoy culture, taste ethnic foods, and see artifacts from all over the world.
We are seeking presenters for this year’s event! A presenter will set up a table/booth and is responsible for bringing artifacts, music, clothing and/or food from your family’s native country. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your country and we would like as many countries represented as possible.
If you are interested in being a presenter and are willing to share artifacts and/or food from your country, please complete the form below by April 11th.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to help make this a cultural event to remember!

A Note from PTA for the Carnival
Longfellow Longhorns, we need your help!
It's time to prepare for the 2019 Longfellow Carnival and Silent Auction! We are so proud to be a community of talented individuals and we want you to share your talents with each other via our Silent Auction! Let me know what you would like to donate and it will be auctioned off.
Here are some examples:
Are you handy around the house? If so, you can donate time to another family.
Are you crafty and like to teach others? If so, you can donate time to teach someone a project, such as sewing or knitting.
Do you love animals? If so, you can donate pet sitting or pet walking.
Love to bake? If so, you can donate your culinary skills in the form of desserts or meals.
Does your family love to watch kids? If so, you can donate babysitting services.
Do you enjoy photography? If so, you can donate your photography services.
We would love to have your talents for the service auction portion of our silent auction! Please contact Janeen Van Etten (janeenmk@yahoo.com) to share your talents!
Please submit your service ideas by March 29th so they can be added to our silent auction website.
Thanks!

Attendance Zones
- Attendance Zones
The Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors approved new elementary attendance areas for the 2019-20 school year. The new boundaries were approved during their November 27 board meeting. The updated maps can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/DistrictMaps. In addition, the District’s Attendance Area Look-Up links have been updated to reflect the approved boundary changes. The Attendance Area Look-Up links provide school information specific for your home address. The links can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/AttendanceAreaLookUp. Junior high and high school students may also be impacted by these changes. Please be sure to check the Attendance Area Look-Up link above to determine if changes to the elementary boundaries have affected your student.
