- River Bend Middle School received the Blue Ribbon Award from the Virginia Music Educators Association! The VMEA Blue Ribbon Award is the highest award given to school music programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia and recognizes excellence in band, orchestra, guitar, and choral performance. All ensembles in a school must receive the highest rating of "Superior" at assessment to qualify for this award!
- Congrats to our students who participated in the Virginia State Science Olympiad Tournament at UVA on March 26th. We earned medals in two events: Road Scholar (Ryan Chung & Krishna Vadrev) and Bridges (Ryan Chung & Victoria Weng)!
- Liz Coyle was named as the 2022 LCPS Secondary New Teacher of the Year!
- Crystal Wallan was named as the 2022 Virginia Middle School Teacher of the Year!

Potomac Falls High School's Night at the Falls will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 4pm-8pm. It will be an open house style event that kicks off with our Excellence in Education presentation, Scholarship presentations, and athletic signings. There will also be a silent auction, dodgeball tournament, trivia tournament, fine arts performances, food and goods vendors, and several club sponsored activities including an escape room, cake walk, face painting, bingo, and more.
The registration for our Dodgeball Tournament is now open. Teams of 6-12 people can register for just $10 by clicking this link. All participants must complete and return the waiver, which requires a parent signature. The waiver is linked in the sign up form.
Our trivia contest will be fun for all ages and cover topics including music, celebrities, history, movies, sports, current events, and more. Teams can pay and enter at the door, online sign up (if applicable) will be posted on the website below when available. There will be three rounds followed by a championship round, where the winners of the previous rounds will face off. Prizes will be awarded.
Our silent auction has already brought in over $3,500 worth of donated items so far including golf packages, spa packages, laptops, restaurant gift cards and more. All proceeds from the auction will go to our school’s beautification fund.
The event is free to enter but bringing cash is encouraged as we will have food vendors including Robeks, a BBQ food truck, Doughboy Creamery, Ridgetop Coffee and more, and several goods vendors as well. Some club events may cost money to participate.

Special Permission
River Bend have quite a few students here on special permission. As a reminder, families have to apply for special permission each school year. Per the LCPS Special Permission Office, "The special permission request window for the 22-23 school year opens to the public on April 1 (at 10:00 am) and closes on June 30. Employees may apply beginning March 1 (at 10:00 am) if applying to bring their child to their own school or an elementary school in their employment cluster. You will receive a decision on your special permission request within 30 days."
Distance Learning Option
Distance Learning will continue as an offering for secondary students next school year. All students interested in Distance Learning (grades 6-12) will need to apply online between February 15, 2022 - March 31, 2022. This is the only opportunity to request Distance Learning for the 2022-23 school year.
