Thayer County Brownfield Belt Buckle Recipients
Nuckolls County 4-H Achievement Night!
Awards formally given out at 4-H Night during the Fair will be presented this evening including: Supreme Market Awards, Rate of Gain Buckle, High Point Buckle, Trail Buckle, Mini Rosettes, Senior Awards, and Ambassadors. 4-H Council will also be recognizing 4-H Leaders and Volunteers during the program.
Additionally, a cake raffle and silent auction will be held during the evening to raise money for 4-H'ers going on the Southern Plains Citizenship Trip. SPCT Participants are invited to bring one or multiple cake(s) [or cupcakes, pies, cookies, etc.] or items for a silent auction. The cake raffle money will be split evenly with all SPCT participants that bring a cake and silent auction proceeds go entirely to the SPCT youth.

County Fair Herdsmanship Results:
This year's overall Herdsmanship winner was the Lucky Buckaroos in Nuckolls County and Willing Hands in Thayer County. Their name will be engraved on the Herdsmanship Plaque located in their respective Extension Office. Congratulations! Individual species winners are:

Static Exhibits & Contests
State Fair Exhibits & Participants
Exhibits that you want us to take for you to the State Fair must be brought to the Extension Office by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22nd. You can pick them up on Wednesday September 6th from 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Due to limited transportation space, larger items may need to be delivered to Grand Island by the exhibitor. If you have a large item such as furniture, please contact the Extension Office to make arrangements for delivery options

4-H Junior Leaders Club
Nuckolls County 4-H Junior Leaders will meet October 15, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Nuckolls County Extension Office.
Thayer County 4-H Junior Leaders will meet October 22, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Thayer County Courthouse in the Clubroom.
If you would like to be a part of the 4-H Junior Leaders Club, you must be 13-18 years old by January 1 of the current year. Contact Jacie Milius if you'd like to join!
4-H Career Portfolio
- 4-H Project Accomplishments (which projects you did this year and what did you learn from them).
- Leadership community service, volunteer, citizenship and educational experiences (what community service and leadership experiences did the youth have this year).
- Non-4-H experience (what other activities does the 4-H'er participate in (i.e. sports, band, school clubs, community activities).
- 4-H Career Story allows youth to share the progress within a single project area (start to explore a 4-Her's passions, what do you particularly enjoy or excel in).

4-H Career Portfolio Workshop
Workshops will take place in:
- Nuckolls County Extension Office on September 19th at 6:00 p.m.
- Thayer County Courthouse Clubroom on September 20th at 6:00 p.m.
4-H Clover Chase: A Nebraska 150 Event
Nebraska 4-H, in partnership with the Nebraska 4-H Foundation, is celebrating the Nebraska Statehood 150 with the 4-H Clover Chase!
Between March 1 - August 15, 2017, Nebraska 4-H will be hosting a photo scavenger hunt for all 4-H members. Using an app, participants will complete challenges and submit photo entries on social media using #NE4HChase. After submitting photos and earning 150 points, participants will be eligible to receive a commemorative water bottle from their local Nebraska Extension Office and will be entered into a drawing to win a drone with video capability. The Nebraska Extension Office with the highest percentage of participation wins a free National Youth Science Day kit!

Fun Events & Community Service Opportunities
Nebraska Mystery Foods Event - October 21, 2017 (Raising Nebraska - Grand Island, NE)
Agronomy Youth Field Day - All youth ages 9-14 years old and adults are invited to the upcoming 2nd annual Agronomy Youth Field Day on Wednesday, August 9 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Curtis, NE on the NCTA College Campus. Activities will focus on several different aspects of crops grown in Nebraska. Participants will gain important life skills while discovering the science behind producing Nebraska crops. Hands-on activities for crop growth, soil management, precision farming and center pivot irrigation technology. A free lunch will be provided to those attending all day. Registrations are due by August 4 by calling the Frontier County Extension Office at 308-367-4424 or emailing kathy.burr@unl.edu. The event is sponsored by Nebraska Extension and NCTA.
SPCT Fundraising Opportunities
- Nuckolls County Achievement & Leaders Party Cake Raffle and Silent Auction - August 6, 5:00 p.m. - Bake and decorate a cake to be raffled off and/or put together a silent auction item/basket. Silent auction items can be any value, just know the higher value items tend to bring more money. Contact Jacie Milius (402) 984-7614 for more details.
