One Word - I'm Getting There

Dear MS Family,

My thanks to everyone who has been keeping me accountable to my word - balance. Your reminders, support and simple utterance of the word - balance - has given me moment to pause and reflect. The funniest time was when someone walked by my door and said, "Balance, LaQuita."

The word has come to mean so much more to me than it did the first time I chose the word. When I shared balance at the faculty meeting, I solely thought about me juggling work and home - but then a good friend said - "what about you?" What about me? Oh - me. The balance comes with triangulating work, home and me.

To help keep balance in the forefront of my thinking - I created a sign, which I posted in a prominent place in the office (see picture below). When I'm sitting at my computer, or I'm on the phone - I'm reminded to take pause and balance.

What's YOUR word?
