Hillcrest STEAM Academy Newsletter
November 2020
From the Office...
Hello STEAM Families,
Happy November! We hope this newsletter finds you doing well.
We wanted to extend a huge thank you for participation during Parent/Teacher conferences! The vast majority of our families participated in conferences, and we cannot thank you enough for the relentless support.
We are in full swing with second quarter, and many fun learning activities are already taking place. We have included quite a few pictures in the newsletter that shows the great things happening here!
We truly believe Hillcrest STEAM Academy is a special place, and great things happen each day. Do you have an idea to make it even better? Feel free to reach out to Dr. Pearson or Dr. Winkelmann.
Wishing you well,
-Dr. Pearson and Dr. Winkelmann
Digital Citizenship and Devices
Do you have digital concerns about your child on the Internet at home? Check out this website that is filled with information on highly relevant topics on parent concerns.
Changing Seasons
As the weather is changing quickly, please remember to send your child to school in a coat, hat, and gloves. Students will have outdoor recess as long as the wind chill is above 20 degrees. The students will not be allowed to stay in during colder temperatures unless there is a note from the doctor specifying that your child cannot go outside for recess due to medical reasons. We want to help every student stay healthy, and wearing a coat is an easy way to accomplish this. We will not take the students outside if there is thunder, lightening, or heavy precipitation.
Please remember that if your child is sick to notify the office. You can email us at hillcrest@bsd124.org or call the school at (816) 348-1130. Our office hours are from 8:40-4:40. You can call outside of those hours and leave a voicemail to notify us of your child’s absence.

REMINDER: Transfer Request Deadline
We have had an amazing first quarter and are already in the second quarter. Our students have shown great creativity and innovation; we can’t wait to see what they will create in the future! Though we hope to keep all of our incredible students, we understand that some families may want to transfer their child in district. If you wish to transfer your child to their home school in the Belton School District, this request must be completed by Tuesday, December 15, 2020. To place a request, you will need to contact the Hillcrest STEAM Academy office at (816) 348-1130. All students transferring will be transitioned at the start of 3rd quarter on January 19. Thank you all for your unbelievable support you have given us with your student’s education! We truly value the partnerships with our families!
