Google Classroom working session

  • December 10th 3:15-4:15
  • Good Counsel Campus Library

Classroom helps teachers save time, keep classes organized, and improve communication with students.

Classroom is a new tool in Google Apps for Education that helps teachers create and organize assignments quickly, provide feedback efficiently, and easily communicate with their classes. Classroom helps students organize their work in Google Drive, complete and turn it in, and communicate directly with their teachers and peers.

In November we held an Ed Edge training where 17 staff members received 1 hour of Technology CEU to apply to their teaching license.

Looking for a tool to differentiate?

Have you heard about Newsela?

Newsela offers current event articles at five different reading levels. A teacher can set up a classroom and assign each student the same article, however, can adjust the reading level as needed. The content will be the same but the level will be appropriate for each student. How wonderful is that? The students won't even know that they are reading at different levels because they are reading the same article!!

What is SAMR?

No, it is not the newest social media or the hottest boy band, it is a way for teachers to evaluate how they are incorporating technology into their classroom.

SAMR stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modification and Redefinition and was developed by Ruben Puentedura. It is a ladder model to demonstrate the evolution of facilitating learning through technology in your classroom.

Check out this video to learn more from the creator of the SAMR model.

How you move up the ladder will be different than how any other teacher does. There may be some lessons that you can jump right to redefinition. However, a majority of movements will be a progression. Please let me know how I can help you move up the ladder!
