From the Principal's Office!

National School Counseling Week!

Nationally, school counselors will be celebrated for their work in our public schools. I particularly want to thank our counseling department for their dedication in making sure our students needs are met educationally and emotionally. They truly serve as the heart of our campus and for that, we should appreciate them. Please take sometime this week to thank them for the countless hours they spend helping our students.

Counseling Department:

Pamela Paxton (KHS Lead Counselor/Victory)

Have a great week KHS!

Information Station

1. As a reminder, we will have EOC English MOC testing for 9th grade students on Wednesday. There will be some room relocations and we will not have SMART lunch that day. We will have 2 block days and 3 straight 8 days.

2. The Senior Expo is this Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Students will be able to purchase senior regalia, prom tickets and get financial aid and transcript information. Please encourage seniors to attend.

3. Overall we did well for the fire marshal visit. Just a few things to address. Please remove all window covers on your classroom doors. You must also remove posters that are on your doors. Administrators will be checking classrooms this week so please take care of this by the end of the day Monday 2/1/2016. Classroom window covers can be used only when we are on lock down.

4. Tutorials and Interventions are taking place in the classroom every day. Continue working with our students in helping them be successful.

5. On Thursday and Friday of this week, I will be having a 20 minute meeting with each grade level. It will be titled 'The Principal's State of the School Address". I am going to be speaking with students about school data, behavioral expectations and the importance of focusing as we enter testing season! We all know that discipline tends to increase during the months of February and March so we want to be proactive. I will send out the information tomorrow about the time and location(s).

6. Hallway duty and dress code checks are working! Please watch for our non-negotiables and send them to be corrected. Vigilance in the hallways helps to keep them clear. Remember the first and last 15 minutes no one is to leave the classroom.

7. KHS Jazz Band will host a concert on Wednesday night with the group Dynamo! Please support this program. Tickets can still be purchased. Please contact any band director for information. If you purchase a ticket, you will receive a jeans pass.

8. Accountability....for our campus, our students, and ourselves!
