We are looking forward to seeing the children during material pick up this week! Please reach out to your child's teachers, Ms. Deet or myself if you have any questions.
Take care and stay safe,
Dr. Sarah Shaw, Principal

In order to provide a dynamic online learning experience, we are asking students to come pick up necessary supplies and resources from Jefferson Middle School on August 26th, 27th, and 28th. This will also provide an opportunity for the children to meet some of their teachers. Click on the link above for more information.
Each team will have an assigned window of time to complete the material distribution. We are asking each child to sign up for a 20 minute appointment to visit JMS. They should bring a backpack to carry their materials.
All materials will be organized in the JMS gym, inside of the A2 Entrance on Moffett Street. If you have any materials from last year, please bring them to JMS during your assigned appointment time.
Click on your child’s Team link to sign up for a time to collect materials. If you do not feel comfortable entering the building, please contact Ms. Deet to make alternate arrangements.

"Welcome to JMS" Bags
Thank you to the JMS Student Council for making "Welcome to JMS" bags for all of our new friends! They filled over 250 bags with back to school goodies and the following message:
Although we might not get to meet you in person immediately, just know that all of us have your back. Even if it is virtual, all of the teachers, staff, and the Student Council Executive Board will always be willing to help you. We all hope that this small gift will assist you in your transition to Jefferson Middle School.
Bags will be available for pick up for all 6th grade and new students at Material Distribution.
As we prepare to start the 2020-2021 school year, we are asking families who need to borrow student technology to please complete the form linked below:
Be sure to list every student for whom you need to borrow a device on this form. Once you have submitted your form, you will receive status emails including device pickup details from an @mtlsd.net email address. Please also be sure to whitelist @mtlsd.net email addresses with your email provider to ensure that you receive these communications from us.
Please direct any and all questions regarding loaned equipment to our support address: RemoteSupport@mtlsd.net
The District will provide grab and go lunches through each of the seven elementary schools, five days per week.
Students interested in obtaining a lunch can travel to their neighborhood elementary school for lunch pick up. Students will be charged via their lunch account. Students who qualify for free and reduced lunch will not be charged.

Walk Your Schedule
The purpose of this event is to provide the children with the opportunity to become acquainted with the building so that they know where they are going on the first day of school. The opportunity for Walk Your Schedule will be available prior to us returning to the brick and mortar setting.
Keeping this same philosophy in mind, we are working on communication for parents and students that will share specific information about how the children will log on, and how they will start their day on the 31st.

Resources For Families
Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.
Here’s how it works:
- Submit a report through the Safe2SaySomething system
- Crisis center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions
- Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
- If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app
