Lakeview Weekly
Week of June 1st - 4th
Note From Principal Pete
Dear #weRLVE Families -
Thank you to all of you who serve and have served in the military. We honor you and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
I also want to thank you for your support during our Fun Run the past couple of weeks. Not only did we hit our goal of raising $25,000, we exceeded our goal by raising over $30,000. Your generosity and support is appreciated more than you know.
Because we hit our goal, I get slimed this week. Mrs. Freeman's 2nd graders raised the most money per lap so they will get the honor of sliming me. We will take a video so all kids will see me doused with slime.
Lastly, I want to thank those of you who purchased t-shirts to support one of our former LVE students so she could complete her outdoor learning STEM project in our forest. We sold enough t-shirts to basically fund the entire project!
We are very fortunate to have our community on our team! We couldn't do what we do without your support.
Enjoy the week!

Do you want your child to have their iPad over the summer?
If so, you must fill out this form otherwise your child's iPad will be collected at the end of the year.
We are nearing the end of our first full year of our 1:1 iPad program. Now families may be wondering what to do with your iPads at the end of the school year. Our District has announced that at the end of the school year, students will have the option to keep their iPads through the summer. This will be beneficial for students in summer learning programs. It will also empower other students to continue learning on their own by having access to high quality digital resources including curriculum-specific tools and eBooks.
3 Easy Steps to Keep District-Issued iPad Over Summer Break:
Read the Acceptable Use Policy
Read the iPad Loan Agreement
Sign the district Family/Student Agreement for iPad Use form, confirming you have read and accept your responsibilities. Please complete one form per student by May 28.

A Great Summer Job, Resume Builder and Way to Serve!
If you know someone looking for a paid, local, summer job, encourage them to look at AmeriCorps. The final date for Member selection is Wednesday, May 19.
This summer the Community Education Department has been awarded 6 AmeriCorps staff members from ServeMinnesota to help out with the learning, health and wellness needs of students. One member will focus on early childhood at CLEC, three will work with K-5 students at Summer Adventure and Enrichment sites and two will support middle school students at the new DEN program at MMS.
With this past year's difficult learning environment and families struggling with many other challenges, the value of these members is immense. Members will serve (paid time) 35 hours per week from June 6-August 14 to support summer programming.
If you know of someone who would like to serve with AmeriCorps, please encourage them to apply to serve in the program as soon as possible
